June 19, 200521 yr Knowing most hereon never heard of a diner's "blue-plate special," I thrust forth on this quiet morning. McKeon has done what he could. Much positive. But, now the negative is coming through. His loyalty to Robinson and Cox is becoming absurd. His inability to manage the Bull-Pen is becoming more than evident. My "blue-plate specials" began two years ago with Ozzie and Mordy. We sent both back to the kitchen while Jack continued over-cooking everything. I doubt he's even awake for the final course. When fans start thinking about dumping Lowell and Juan Pierre... it's time to look to discard the Chef.

And Mordy was done as a ML player and the organization did right by him, giving him a managing job to learn the craft (I for one think he's destined to manage the Marlins one day) and he'll be back in September to get the last few days he needs to qualify for a bigger major league pension. All in all I'd say both people were treated well by the organization. If you look at who a good number of the people here are (testosterone-raging kids) who want to trade JP and Lowell, that speaks for itself. One of them actually asked the question yesterday whether the pitcher HAD to bat ninth (OMG!) which gives you an indication as to the level of baseball knowledge there is among some of the people here. As for managing the bullpen, was it Jack's fault that Jones hung one? By his own admission a pitcher in BP could hit a home run off that pitch. I do find fault with some managerial/coaching stuff going on, but that shouldn't be confused with misplays defensively or otherwise successful pitchers who don't execute on a single pitch and pay the ultimate price for their mistake.
June 19, 200521 yr As for Guillen, I was sad to see him go personally. I thought he would of taken over for Jack after this year or after last year. If he had stayed he would of ended up a coach here I am certain of it. But, I dont think you can blame/fire a manager 2 years after a WS, sorry that just isnt done.
