Posted June 28, 200519 yr Anyone heard of this band? They're a punk band from Miami. They're playing in my area next week. And Miami and Gainesville this week and I guess with some regularity. How are they? Good live? Oh, and while we're on the topic. I went to the travelling Plan-It-X Festival last night. Very fun show. Very good music. They're heading down south over the next couple of days, circuiting through the state of Florida around this weekend. Here's the website: http://www.hellomermaid.com/pixfest/ From the guys involved with Operation Cliff Clavin and The Devil Is Electric (Ramp, those are the smelly hippies you see around Bloomington Indiana). As well as Against Me awhile back to give you an understanding of the genre and social atmosphere. If you go, treat the guys from The Max Levine Ensemble well. I've known them since high school.
June 28, 200519 yr if you get a chance to see the southernaires, do so. They are friends of mine, and my band has played with them numerous times. A lot of people love their music, and a lot of people hate it. Its punk rock with a definite country/down home influence. They are a very talented group, so give them a listen. Also, Im going to plan-it-x fest on saturday in miami. Rferry- how was Defiance Ohio?
June 28, 200519 yr well that sucks, I'll be on vacation that week. Sounds like a good show. Kiss what's the lowdown on your band? Play any local spots?

Play any local spots? 829522[/snapback] We had our last show a few weeks ago, so the band I spoke of is no more. I am, however, invovled in 3 new bands (ugh...way too many, but Ill see what I can work out.) When we were together we played Churchills Pub, the Alley, and a lot of house shows with other bands that sounded somelike what we sounded like. We were a screamo/hardcore band and if for some reason you would like to hear us, I think we still have music up at www.purevolume.com/kissthesungoodbye
June 28, 200519 yr Author I had to skip out early, but got to listen to to Defiance:Ohio for 20 minutes from outside. They were very good. Cello, violin, bango, acoustic guitar. It took them nearly forever to set up though. Heard the split CD w/ Ghost Mice a couple times. Great stuff. There's a band on the tour by the name of One Reason. If you like Hot Water Music, you'll love their energetic set. I think they're from northern Mississippi so they probably stop by a lot. Also, the guitarist of This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb got sick last week and him and the bassist went to Florida for treatment. Who knows if he'll be alright for this weekend. Do you know what ever happened to the Sissies?
June 29, 200519 yr i love defiance ohio, ive seen them twice already, and i cant wait to see them again on saturday. also, one reason is great...i saw them a year ago, and i have the one reason/defiance 7" split, which is grand. give my band a listen if you wish...i dont think we were as good as we could/should have been because of lack of practice. lovitt records is awesome, our last show was with a band called navies from DC on that label. ps- the locust is a sorry excuse for music
July 6, 200519 yr Author How was the show? D.H.S. is playing tomorrow, but I found out I already made plans with my sister to go to the Red Sox - O's game

And I was absolutely blown apart by the Rio de la Muerte/D.H.S. split set. Rio played his acoustic guitar and sang while the DHS worked as a backup band. It was absolutely phenomenal.
