Sad to see a valiant, competitive and knowledgeable baseball man go over the hill, but it happens. IMO Jack will be gone before the All-Star break. It's more than writing-on-the-wall and Loria and the FO must know that.

Some good replacements out there, ranging from Jim Leyland to Dean Treanor.

(Not Bowa!)

We lost Ozzie, Mordy is not ready yet... Why not Harry Dunlop or Mark Wiley?

(And I like the impression that Dunlop and Wiley can work together. They've had a good teacher, Jack McKeon.) Keep it in the family and expect the Starters to get it done.

And don't bring up potentials like Dillon and Willingham and stagnate their careers on the bench!

And... would Dean Treanor be a good 3B coach or would that be a demotion for him?

We need to develop a healthier, more aggressive environment. Not just "business-as-usual and keep your fingers crossed." I think our under-achievers are poised to break out. Jack is an un-due weight on their shoulders.

Maybe you didn't see Jack and Wiley in conversation throughout the game. But they were.

Jack went out to take out Olsen because Jack always goes out to remove a pitcher, but it wasn't done without, I suspect, the acknowledgement and approval of Wiley, who sat with Jack discussing the kid and the game from pitch one.

Playing the blame game is fun but if you're going to do that, place the blame where it belongs, on the offense and the defense, not the guys sitting in the dugout.

Get out of here with this "it's on the wall" B.S.

McKeon made one bad move, the Harris pinch-hitting move, but that's never an issue if Jones holds them in the 9th. McKeon saw a team struggling to score and felt that Harris with 2 strikes has a better chance of getting lucky than Mota.

Removing Olsen and burning Bump was kind of odd, but Olsen's pitch count was up there, and the game was winnable, no reason to let Olsen dance on the edge of disaster...

McKeon is not going to be let go ever. He will retire when he wants to.

"one bad move?" One too many bad season.

For the record I believe it was AGonz and LoDuca who didn't hold them in the 9th.

Speaking of the Lenny Harris strikeout, does that actually count as an at bat for him? I was wondering what the technicalities are when it comes to putting in a PH in the middle, or in this case, at the end of an at bat.

no, it was Mota's K

if Lenny would have put the ball in play, it would have been Lenny's AB
