....I know the Cubs (unfortunately) had to endure a DH yesterday. But it was spread out...a 1pm game and a 7:30pm game...so it was not brutal IMO.

BUT, I think the Marlins and Cubs should of made a plan (with lessons learned from last season) to of played a doubleheader today.

1:30pm and 6pm start times.

With the allstar break coming in 3 days....pitching complications in this matter NEED NOT APPLY

Damn, this makes me angry at the INCOMPETENCY :mad :banghead

You can't just play a double header because you think the next game is going to be rained out,and the marlins and cubs don't plan when they want to have double headers lol..

As much as I hate the Cubs, you cant make them arrive in Miami at 2 am, play 2 games the next day after 2 the day before, and use 4 starting pitchers in a 24-hour period. That means some pitcher would have to start on 2-3 days rest, not going to happen. And, unfortunately, I dont know if a 6 PM game would make it in, anyway.

Ok,so it was a bad idea. But with the allstar break here, I thought there might be a chance to pull it off somehow. It would appear to be brutal to do such a thing but if somehow they could tough it out...the Cubs would probably have Sunday thru Thursday off.

How about moving tonight's game up an hour and scheduling a DH tomorrow?

Anyway, if the Cubs did not have that DH yesterday it might of been doable but it's a mute point now.

But I tell you this.If we lose 3 games this weekend or even 2 games, with us already with 2 to make up and then with 3 long months left in the season and in hurricane season .....we are treading a ferociously week line here folks.

This could be a precursor to an even more horrendous case scenario than last year.

If you can avoid such catastrophic scenario's, it would be smart to plan ahead a little better.

Thus, my points here are NOT that "out there" folks. :whistle

I would have liked to see today's game moved up to a 1pm start, and leaving open the possibility of playing two on Sunday (as remote as that might be) but to blame the Marlins organization is misplaced.

It's Major League Baseball that controls scheduling, not the Marlins, and I would be very surprised if the Marlins haven't been trying to find a solution with the Commissioner's office.

I understand your frustration and agree that it puts the Fish in an untenable situation to now have to make up five games in what is already a compressed schedule, and with the rainy season upon us, threatens to get worse.

Hopefully in the future, those who do the scheduling will be more sensitive to atmospheric realties of South Florida and schedule less days off early in the season and more towards September. But we can't do anything about this season except play ball.
