Democratic Hopefuls:

I think its important to learn who the candidates are in this race.

It should be an interesting election, especially after 2000.

Republican is what I am registered as, but I dont consider myself Republican. I consider myself conservative.

Graham seems to be the most conservative of Dems....I kinda like his foreign policy. Dont agree with his stance on Roe v. Wade, but he is a Gator ;)

seriously, I am not looking forward to voting for Pres. I like Bush more than the Dems, but unfortunately Bush is making the federal govt bigger and bigger. Our nation will crumble if it does not change from this imperialistic, big government. 1700s G.B. is what comes to mind...didnt we break away from them or something?

Why not vote for a smaller party canidate than?

At least express your voice then just not voting like some Americans.

If your eligible and you didn't vote yet you b*tch about The President then all I have to say is...

Shut up. oh dont worry. I will definitely vote. I cnat stand it when people dont vote, and can....and then complain. And I definitely will vote for a President.

But, I do put more emphasis into state and local candidates....why? Because President Bush doesn't care about Greenville County, SC or Brevard County, FL. Mark Sanford and Jeb Bush know more about those counties (respectively).

I'm just sick of big government. I'm sick of so much money being given to welfare (social security is a different story though). I'm sick of these pinkos allowing the legal killing of babies. What do I care about? I care about things that are happening where I live.

I'm just waiting for the day when voting for the President will not be as important as voting for local and state government candidates. Down with big govt. We're turning into a King George empire.

AND WHEN DID I SAY I WAS NOT GOING TO VOTE? I said I was not looking forward to voting. Maybe I'll just vote for jeff davis (jk). I will definitely vote. It is a right that I will take full advantage of.

Haha, looks like you and I might get to be close friends Furman. I must say, the day the presidential election means something is the day a minority is nominated to run from one of the big parties. The minority will turn out in record numbers to vote for him, and if that candidate is black or hispanic the southern hicks will turn out in record numbers to vote against him regardless of party. Don't worry, I'll be that minority candidate on the ultra-conservative side one day :thumbup

you wont make me as ur friend when you assume that southern hicks will vote against a minority just because of their race.

But, yah, you and I seem to agree on a lot of things politically.

You know what, though. This brings me to a statement I read, while reading one of the late, great Lewis Grizzard's books (a great columnist for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution). He said something to the effect of, "you know, racism is not a problem in the South anymore. The problem is up north. People in Mississippi have learned to get along."

This brings me to my point: Whites may not like blacks all the time, and vice versa, but in the South, where there are so many blacks living right down the road from whites, they have learned to get along. They work together, live near each other, eat the same foods ("soul food" is about the exact same thing as southern food). Places like New York, there are different sections for Irish, Italians, Chinese, blacks, Jews, etc. In fact, maybe some of you remember awhile back when the New York governor (not Pataki) started a movement where there would be "bigot police" in the streets.

We cant change racists. People will not like other people. It will happen. But when we can learn to get along, that is when progress is made.

Wow, I think I'm just gonna cut and paste this last half of my post and make a new thread.

Al Gore might run again and he is probably is democratinc party best chance to knock down Bush.

Al Gore has already said on more than one ocassion that he isn't running.

In light of the current election year fun, lets bring this to the front. Its a bit dated now, but it gives us an opportunity to see where things were, both with the candidates and with board members a number of months ago.
