Banco Popular signs sponsorship deal with Marlins

Perhaps their intention is to use the Ameriquest model towards the hispanic community, which would make a tremendous amount of sense.

BTW, in my earlier posts in this thread I hope I didn't give the impression I didn't like the company or anything like that. If you look at their financials though it should be obvious they aren't in a position today to contribute the missing $45 million in a way that a BofA or Citibank could wthout devastating earnings per share, which is after all why they exist.

I continue to believe Miami Today put one and one together and came up with three, making a leap from a marketing agreement to closing the gap in the current stadium financing plan. Either that or the piece was poorly written (or edited), leaving the reader with an impression that was unfounded.

Remember, what's needed is $45 million in "today's" dollars, and if financed, or paid over time, would result in roughly $90 million being needed.

I'm with you. I don't think this Bank is closing any gap. This is only a 2 year deal between the Marlins and them.

But what I find interesting is that this organization is aggressively expanding into the US and the main target is the hispanic community. Name recognition is very important for them in South Florida. So I think they could be a player on bigger things later on.

Yeah, but as I'm sure you know, all that matters is NPV. We could either get 45 million today or 90 million over 10 years or whatever ( i dont want to find the discount rate or do the math right now). It would all be the same to whoever is doing the funding since the NPV would be the same.

but i also agree with you, no way this deal has anything to do with stadium funding
