August 17, 200521 yr A couple of coaching decisions in tonights game were questionable and i was wondering what everyone else thought... 1. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and no one out the marlins decided to play the infield back and let the run score on any contact play. Why not play the infield in and try to cut off the run at home? :banghead 2. In the top of the 9th, the marlins brought in Vilone after it was announced that Klesko was pinch hitting. If the marlins were playing the matchups which it seems they were then the marlins should have replaced Vilone with Mota after the Roberts at bat. But he didn't, the next 2 batters were righties and they both got on base (a walk and a basehit). my question is why wasn't this done? and also was Mota the best available option in that situation? what about alfonseca?
August 17, 200521 yr For the infield he kept them out because since there was a runner on 2nd and 3rd there probably was no chance at a DP and just went for the out. Plus when they hit the ball with the infield out it might keep the runner on 2nd from advancing to 3rd. I guess Jack had good confidence on the team that we would get whatever run we gave up back. Plus look what happend later when he did bring the infield in and the ball went by Louie and a run scored. As for the pitching, I'm just getting a strong feeling that Jack can't manage the bullpen Jack Squat!

Right move, wrong result. 905043[/snapback] ok you must of misunderstood my post. Ishmael Valdez warmed up to start the 9th inning. The pitchers spot in the padres order was up and they pinch hit with Klesko. So jack went out to the mound and brought in Vilone. Who then pitched to Klesko (strikeout) and Roberts (single to right). My question is why didn't Jack pull Vilone after the 2 lefties were up and replace him with a righty to face the leadoff hitter and Randa?
