3. chris aguila, you, my friend, might be the worst player in all of baseball.
4. As a season ticket holder from the inagural days, it didn't take me long to notice that Chris Aguila wasn't MLB material. Sure he may have leg speed and be able to catch a fly ball, but then again an autistic highschooler in upstate New York was able to let it rain all day, nevertheless there is no excuse to his 13 RBIs in 166 ABs let alone striking out 25% of the time when he doesnt feel like taking a lazy swing at a ball over the middle of the plate. Also I guess he can buy his way on base with a walk since he doesnt swing the bat, unless it's a bad pitch, explaining his .27 career OBP, but why does it matter if he gets on base anyways? He will just get thrown out attempting to steal second on a 2-1 count, 2 pitches before the batter is walked in a tight ball game!? For God sake... maybe he ingested a little too much ethanol back in his fire breathing Polenesian days,"Biogrpahy...Has performed a Polynesian Fire Knife Dance with a group in Reno, Nev." at lease he's not a complete f***up, he can spit fire and enjoys swallowing long objects which risk the chance of puncturing his throat... maybe thats why Lenny Harris left the team, but anyways if you are going to sell off our Carlos Delgados, Louis Castillos, and Juan Pierres, who all happen to be at the top of there games right now hurting the Marlin's chances of ever making it into the playoffs (until 7 years down the road that is) can you please send Chris Aguila closer to his native Nevada home, and suit him up in some neatly pressed Isotope gear... us Marlin fans would greatly appreciate it.
5. play IF back if RISP tie ball game, play IF in if RISP put other team in lead Jack Squat says the rules say the pitcher (Villone) must pitch to one batter. Right move, wrong result. 905043 ok you must of misunderstood my post. Ishmael Valdez warmed up to start the 9th inning. The pitchers spot in the padres order was up and they pinch hit with Klesko. So jack went out to the mound and brought in Vilone. Who then pitched to Klesko (strikeout) and Roberts (single to right). My question is why didn't Jack pull Vilone after the 2 lefties were up and replace him with a righty to face the leadoff hitter and Randa?
6. A couple of coaching decisions in tonights game were questionable and i was wondering what everyone else thought... 1. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and no one out the marlins decided to play the infield back and let the run score on any contact play. Why not play the infield in and try to cut off the run at home? :banghead 2. In the top of the 9th, the marlins brought in Vilone after it was announced that Klesko was pinch hitting. If the marlins were playing the matchups which it seems they were then the marlins should have replaced Vilone with Mota after the Roberts at bat. But he didn't, the next 2 batters were righties and they both got on base (a walk and a basehit). my question is why wasn't this done? and also was Mota the best available option in that situation? what about alfonseca?
7. speaking of good decisions, how about Jack telling Brian Moehler to not swing the bat with the bases loaded in the top of the 4th. Great decision! Not many good things could have happened in that situation considering he ussualy makes contact and a double play would have been a killer. So what turned out happening? JP with a single to center that scored 3 runs after an error from Lofton!
8. Can someone please explain to me why trading Burnett is such a bad thing? He's a .500 pitcher and that's about all. Does he have great stuff? Sure but obviously thats not enough. He has no heart and absolutely no competitive spirt. I say trade him for as much as you can get and take your chances with the young lefties and Valdez.
9. when's the last time spooney pitched in a game? a couple years? i wouldn't expect anything from him this year!
10. 2-6 isn't anything to brag about. 832820 nothing to brag about? 2 for every 6 and u might be making a trip to Cooperstown
11. your right you never stated anywhere that you thought that was the wrong play. I appologize for that. It's good to see someone who can actually talk baseball and know what their talking about. Sadly a lot of people on this board couldn't even tell you what the contact play is.
12. #1 lenny harris wasn't in a pinch hitting situation so i dont wanna hear about how many pinch hits he has #2 if cabrerra or delgado or lately the play of castillo then u might think of taking off the contact play since they have proven to be good hitters and could get a basehit to win the game but Lenny Harris? no thank you i'll try to force the situation by putting on the contact play and apparently the manager agreed with me!
13. One GLARING coaching mistake was made in the 11th (not sure on the inning). Lo Duca was on 3rd and the infield was drawn in. A grounder was hit to second and instead of Lo Duca staying on 3rd he tries to run home. EASY out at the plate and now the Marlins have a runner on first and no one in scoring position. Why not lleave Lo Duca at 3rd because you KNOW there is not a chance in hell he is going to score on that gronder to 2nd. Give up the out at first. You stil have a runner in scoring position. I don't know who gave him the green light and I highly doubt Paul would run on his own because he is a smart ball player. Note: I have a horrible memory for details so I am not sure what the inning was, who was at bat (i think it was Enc and Lo Duca hit a double) and I'm not sure on the out situation (I think Lo Duca hit a lead off double and moved up to third on a balk). But I do remember how pissed I was after that play. 833234 hello all...huuge marlins fan but an even bigger fan of the game of baseball...and it makes me wanna puke when i see people on this board questioning decisions when they have absolutely no idea what there talking about. In the situation you were talking about there was 1 out with Lo Duca on 3rd and Alex Gonzalez batting. Now the proper play in that situation would be to put the contact play on (which was done) for several reasons. 1. it forces the defense to make a perfect play, any bobble, slip, or play in the hole most likely means the run scores.2. even if the defense does catch the ball cleanly they still have to make a decent throw to the catcher with a runner running full speed at him. 3 Lenny Harris was on deck and although suprisingly he has had a good 1st half, he's still no cabrerra or Delgado.. So bottom line was the manager made the right decision and i personally thought he did a great job in a game that he had to make a lot of decisions.
