Congrats to Aaron Holbert

Aaron Holbert, Reds infielder, a 32 year old long time minor leaguer, got his first major league hit today. Always good to see a guy that works hard be able to get rewarded for all of his hard work over the years. He doubled off of Torres in 9th inning of the Reds Pirates Game tonight.

Congrats Aaron

Btw, Griffey hit 2 homers tonight.

i'm going to go with lack of talent

Lack of talent? I know nothing about the guy but can tell you it wasn't lack of talent. If he was the 730th overall pick, then a case could be made for it being lack of talent.

He was the 18th overall selection in 1990, he had the skills if he went that high. Maybe switching from aluminum to wood is what killed him, that can hurt the brightest of baseball prodigys. In fact coaches around here encourage using a wooden bat in the cage and when taking BP on the diamond as early as 14 to get used to it(a good portion of legion teams use only wooden bats in BP if I am not mistaken). Maybe he developed injuries. But, you dont go that high in the draft and not have talent. That's like comparing him to Cole Seifrig(who was a WR recruit to Purdue if I am not mistaken) that we took with a low pick because of his athletic ability.
