Castillo batting

Why doesn't he bat righty full time? He is only batting .257 against right handed pitchers, which means he's batting lefty, but is batting .430 against left handed pitchers, which means he's batting righty. Don't you think that someone would say go ahead and bat righty full time and see how you do?

Because, like you said, those numbers are against the pitchers who are throwing left while he's battintg right, etc. You can't just say he will hit better right handed all the time, because he will face more right handed pitchers.

Don't you think it's worth a shot to see how he does batting right against righties?

Maybe if it was a little earlier in the season...We are in the middle of a penant race right now and can't experiment too much.

Looie still fashions himself a speedster and bats from the left side to give himself a one step quicker time down to first base.

Luis has gotten into a trend the past few months where he'll bat righty almost every AB regardless of the handedness of the pitcher and the only time he'll bat lefty is when JP is on base to protect him.

For the role he's asked to perform, he has close to equal ability from both sides of the plate.
