Posted September 6, 200519 yr You can talk all you want about who should sit. Who should play. Who's having a miserable year. Who has great promise. For this year, the bottom line is we need Beckett and Burnett to give quality starts from here on in. They've both dissapointed in the recent past. If we get quality starts from Beckett and Burnett in their final 10-12 starts this year we'll make the playoffs. If they don't, we won't.

September 6, 200519 yr Great pitching needs at least some offense, and Lowell isn't helping with that at all. Hopefully Hermida can make a difference.

Balanced and dynamic teams win playoff spots. 931763[/snapback] Well in that case we're in trouble, because balanced and dynamic are 2 adjectives that have not been the Marlins this year....and I see no reason why anyone should expect that to change. But I think we agree, becuse every series is a short series from here on in. It's not a long year anymore. We need 10-12 quality starts from Beckett and Burnett out of the last 28 games. Period. That is unless you think emotion, trust, luck or frazzling will play a part.
September 6, 200519 yr its not the pitching...if they give up 3 or 100 runs it doesnt matter if our own offense cant even score more than 2...for some teams (St. Louis, Boston, Yankees at times)...5 runs is still nothing and they answer back with at least 6...Marlins? it seems like our pitchers are forced to throw complete game shutouts everytime if we have a chance to win...
