Posted September 19, 200519 yr I picked up a few interesting stats in the past few days that you guys may be interested in... First, the Marlins are third in series wins this year. This was in the end notes pages of this week's ESPN the magazine (Racecar driver on the front). They trail only the Cardinals and the White Sox. Second, and most interesting, rookie pitchers are 1-11 with a 7.20 ERA against the Marlins this year. Sort of goes against the "WE MAKE EVERY ROOKIE LOOK LIKE CY YOUNG!!!111!" argument, doesn't it? I had a bad day on Saturday, like most here and I lost my composure for that day alone...but I'm back on the hope train. The rotation is set up nice... Burnett, Vargas, Moehler against the weaker Mets, and then Willis, Beckett, Burnett against the Braves in Atlanta. Let's get 5 of 6!
September 19, 200519 yr They are going to skip Moehler's start and have Willis face Martinez on Thursday. It's a good move leaving both Moehler and Valdez in the bullpen for those testy middle relief innings.
September 20, 200519 yr We are third among that group of six contenders in series wins, not in the entire league.
