i think personally i'm glad that jack was able to go out the way he did. when things got hairy the marlins could have fired him and just broke off the love affair most of south florida had with him (especially the bandwagoners) but instead they kept him around, and unfortunately injuries got the best of our team this year, and to make the playoffs, everything has to work in your favor, and things just didn't pan out...

he's taught the game of baseball to our team which they will hold with them their entire careers, which will no doubt make them better players, having him for a manager.

that being said, i'm glad he got to go out under his own terms with the dignity and respect that he has earned over his 52 years in the greatest sport there is.

Thank you Jeffrey Loria for staying with your man.

How do you know for sure Beinfest wanted to fire Jack but Loria said no?

Because there were articles written about Beinfest wanting to axe McKeon, even to the point that Beinfest went to Loria and reportedly said, "him or me." (Beinfest and McKeon come from different "baseball schools" and their conflicting style caused some clashes) Loria kept the cooler head and let McKeon leave under his own terms, since he had a pretty good hunch that this season (win or lose) was it for Jack.

I don't put much stock into what reporters say about conversations that were held in a private office beyond the reporters' ears.

I don't know if I believe the media on the "him or me", but I have to say that Jack and AdminB weren't on the same page many times. Mainly on minor league promotions, etc.

I don't remember any confrontation, but back in June Beinfest said McKeon's job was not safe.
