Marlins history according to the Rockies:

? Moises Alou, 1997

Alou led both teams with three home runs, and also totaled nine RBI. He and Charles Johnson hit successive shots in the four-run fourth inning of Florida's Game 1 win, and his second three-run homer of the Series - both of his homers were hit off Orel Hershiser - staked the Marlins to a 6-4 lead in the sixth inning of the Game 5 win. By 1998, though, he was playing for the Houston Astros.

Best pitching performance

? Livan Hernandez, 1997

The rookie, who had defected from Cuba, won Games 1 and 5 and was chosen Most Valuable Player of the Series, only the second rookie ever to win the award. He also was the first player to win MVP in the League Championship Series and the World Series since Hershiser won it in 1988 with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Quotable

"I guess every little boy must have imagined this would happen to him at one time. We haven't given up all year. I'm so happy for all the guys and for everybody in the organization."

Florida Marlins manager Jim Leyland, who left the penny-pinching Pittsburgh Pirates for the Marlins, where he was promised the team would spend some money to obtain players - and it did. His Pirates lost in the playoffs in 1990, 1991 and 1992.

Notable

? Current Colorado catcher Johnson, a member of the Marlins' 1997 World Series team, was the Marlins' first draft pick, from the University of Miami . . . Leyland managed the Rockies for one season, 1999 . . . The Marlins' postseason games leading up to the World Series didn't even sell out . . . The four Series games played in South Florida were witnessed by the four largest crowds in Marlins history - an average of 67,243 a game, more than double the regular-season support . . . The temperature for Game 4 in Cleveland was 15 degrees, the coldest ever for a World Series game.

Man This series is tough! We have the league leader in RBI's which is Preston and then the Alltitude there....then we gotta face Schimdt and Bonds. It cant get any worser.
