Posted August 18, 200321 yr LATEST NEWS - August 16 - Previous News Cardinals placed outfielder J.D. Drew on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 9, with a strained right oblique muscle. Drew may be ready to pinch-hit soon, but it looks like the Cardinals are doing the smart thing by shutting him down. He will be eligible to return in eight days. this guy cant stay healthy for a month..... im glad we didnt pull the trigger(if we had the chance to)
August 18, 200321 yr I agree......again. The man is good when you can put him in the line up, but you just can't do that often enough for it to make a big impact.
August 18, 200321 yr Damn he is like Griffey always getting injured! I rather stick with Cabs now that he is playing good....
August 18, 200321 yr Not surprized he's gotten injured once again... The most games he's ever played in a single season is 135 games.
August 18, 200321 yr Thank God indeed. Speaking of broke down and overrated....Where are all of the Juan Gonzalez supporteres that were so prevelant a couple of weeks ago? True to form Juan GOne got "injured" again.
August 18, 200321 yr I rather stick with Cabs now that he is playing good.... When has he not been good? You people are so fickle...
August 18, 200321 yr When has he not been good? How about the first 6 games after the trading deadline, when he went 2-21 with no extra base hits and 13 Ks? That wasn't good. Fortunately, it looks like it was just a brief slump.
August 18, 200321 yr During a baseball season, there are going to be ups and there are going to be downs. The great players find ways to maximize the former and minimize the latter. Miguel "Superman" Cabrera will be a great, great player. But for now, he just needs to pretend there is a man on second everytime he hits.
August 18, 200321 yr Cabrera is young, he needs to learn. He has had stretches when his hitting was not that good, but he has contributed to this team's good fortune (as have so many of the guys.) TH had his times when everyone was praising him, Banks even had a good week long time frame when he was starting out in left. All have had good and bad times, but Cabrera has made a better impact. He is young, needs to learn more about the patience it takes to be a ML hitter, and experience more of the pitchers he will be facing during his future in the Majors. EVERY player has room for improvement.
August 19, 200321 yr Drew is going to be a superstar, and you'll wish they had pulled the trigger when we could of gotten him cheaply
August 19, 200321 yr When has he not been good? You people are so fickle... Uhh, Alot. He has AVG. of .258 and he is starting to heat up again.
August 19, 200321 yr Lets pull out some of our favorite stats to judge Superman shall we: .476 BA and 1.189 OPS with runners in scoring position and two outs .371 and .992 with runners on and two outs .420 and 1.144 with RISP .329 and .929 with runners on :mischief2
August 19, 200321 yr Uhh, Alot. He has AVG. of .258 Whether it's .258 or .264, this comes in much less at-bats than the rest of the majors. Mike Lowell hasn't been producing too much lately - are you going to tell me that he's not a good player? I would hope not. I wish people wouldn't place so much emphasis on current production when judging players and learn to look at the big picture.
August 19, 200321 yr Mike Lowell has been an rbi machine lately... Well he went through that slump before the first two games Padres series. He went 0-4 on Sunday. That's besides my point, though.
August 19, 200321 yr I think Drew's injuries are mental. This guy could be healthy, but has no reason to stay healthy. Oblique injury? Please... Besides, it we got Drew it would have been for minor leaguers - none of which figure into current team success. I think if we really had the chance to get Drew we would have - and should have. You risk injury, and that is too bad, but the guy still has big time ability.
