October 12, 200520 yr I read somewhere that Fredi Gonzalez was asked about his philosophy because the Marlins FO think it is important that the manager and GM have similar philosophies. We all know there was a schism between Beinfest and McKeon this past year because they had different philosophies. So, my question is, what is Beinfest's baseball philosophy? I know a few of you have commented on this, most notably Rferry. Does anyone know?

Create teams built around the three run homer while playing home-games in a pitcher's park. :shifty What do I think he said: a team that mixes youth and experience and is set up well for both the short and long-term; or essentially "no comment."

How would that contradict Jack's philosophy, though? I got the impression that the manager and the GM weren't on the same page this past season... that's why I ask.
October 12, 200520 yr I can't speak to this with any authority or first hand knowledge but my sense was Jack's complaint was that the FO was dictating who would play for reasons other than to put the best team on the field. For example, I believe Jack wanted to make the Cabrera/Lowell switch sooner but because the FO was trying to trade Lowell, they wanted him in the lineup. The same goes for Encarnacion, who right up until August 31st, the FO wanted to trade. Had Jack had his way, were it not for injuries you would have seen alot more of Willingham, not to mention Conine (much sooner), Hermida (sooner)and Aguila. I can be 100% wrong but I don't think so.
