Posted October 18, 200519 yr They informed their fans if they buy full season tickets for next year, they could get World Series tickets for this year. Had to be purchased by 11:00 am this morning. Wow, that's one way to put butts in the seats. Loria should have done that in '03. Would have had a full house in '04. :lol
October 18, 200519 yr They did something like that in '03 saying that if you put a deposit on '04 season tickets you get a playoff strip for the '03 playoffs, but they stopped that after the first round. That is a fantastic idea by the White Sox. Any mid market team that does that would benefit themselves greatly.
October 18, 200519 yr Yeah. Exactly. Not sure if the White Sox offer playoff priority to '05 season ticket holders as some who reupped early and/or had not read the fine print (supposedly printed in bold red and on 30 pages of the booklet) complained the Marlins did not.
October 18, 200519 yr No, the Marlins never did this. The did things similar to this, but they never guaranteed World Series tickets to every home game to non-season ticket holders mere days before the Series started if the non-season ticket holders agree to purchase tickets for the following season. The reason Marlins fans were up in arms was that paying for the '05 season gave you no advantage to anyone who didn't pay for the '05 season because both parties had to make at the very least a deposit for '06 (and in my case, I had to make a payment, not just a deposit, by September 1) to get a playoff strip. This is the White Sox trying to give fans who want World Series tickets a chance, but only if they buy full season tickets, the Marlins are more leniant to new season ticket holders while screwing over their established ticket base...

Exactly. Their fans are guaranteed World Series tickets for this year. Apparently even if they never purchased season tickets before. Buying them in advance in hopes that your team gets there is one thing, buying them, knowing they're going is quite another. I hear quite a few people bought like 4 WS tickets. Sold off 2 at an obscene price and covered the cost of their season tickets. Plus they get to go to the WS.
October 18, 200519 yr They just said on SportsCenter that White Sox WS tickets sold out in 18 minutes, but I guess they still have a bunch of seats reserved for people who want to do this deal.
October 18, 200519 yr Same thing. Just a different perspective if you are 2005 ST holder and not quite sure if you will or can re-up in October.
