FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) _ Al Martin and Todd Hollandsworth homered as the Florida Marlins beat the Baltimore Orioles 8-7 Saturday.

 

Marlins starter A.J. Burnett was removed from the game as a precaution after walking Gary Matthews Jr. with two outs in the third inning. Burnett felt tightness in his right forearm and was to be re-evaluated Sunday.

 

``It's no pain, no pop, no burn,'' said Burnett, who allowed a run on four hits, walked one and struck out two. ``I knew it wasn't bad. I thought, 'Let's get this addressed now.' My goals are beyond spring training.''

 

Marty Cordova homered twice for Baltimore and Admin Bigbie added a three-run shot. Jeff Conine had three hits for the Orioles, who have lost seven of nine.

 

Florida took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, then went up 5-0 on Martin's homer into the right-field bleachers.

 

Martin, trying to make the Marlins as a non-roster player, drove in three runs. He has nine RBIs this spring, one behind team leader Ivan Rodriguez.

 

Hollandsworth's solo shot in the third, his team-high third homer, made it 6-1.

 

The Orioles rallied against Marlins reliever Tim Spooneybarger, who allowed all three Baltimore home runs. Spooneybarger entered with an 8-2 lead in the eighth, then gave up five runs on four hits and a walk.

 

Baltimore starter Sidney Ponson went five innings, allowing six runs on eight hits, walking one and striking out three.

 

``I was leaving the ball right down the middle,'' Ponson said. ``It was one of those days where I knew I was doing something wrong and I couldn't correct it until the fourth or fifth inning.''

 

The Orioles scratched third baseman Tony Batista from the starting lineup with a sore right knee and sore throat.
