December 7, 200520 yr The Devil Rays are asking for the moon for there players. They where set to get Andy Marte who is a top 20 maybe top 10 prospect in baseball for Julio Lugo and they still want more. Lats yera they wanted Hanley Ramirez, Anibal Sanchez, Yusmeiro Petit and Lasting Milledge for Aubrey Huff and Danys Baez. Ironically we have 3 of those 4 players now. So you better believe they are gonna demand Sanchez or Petit and maybe both!!! for Garthright. Quite frankly I wouldn't give up either of the 2 for Garthright.

I wonder if the Marlins single handedly lowered the premium for pitchers in the past couple of weeks

If you can't get Gathright or a CF-type, why not fill the position with a stop gap like Aguila for a year and try for a FA next offseason? I don't see Pierre in the Cubs' long-term plans and unlike people like AJ, I doubt he'd be opposed to coming back. I'm not saying it has to be Pierre, but there's no rush to acquire somebody to fill the position. We're not breaking 75 wins regardless next year and that only gets it done in the NL West.
December 7, 200520 yr Author I was looking at Hanley's stats...at Double A Portland, he had a .335 OBP and 26 SBs....Even if he can't lead off, he'd make a nice #2
