September 1, 200323 yr Palm Beach Post is reporting that the Marlins also explored deals involving Colorado LF Jay Payton and Anaheim 3B Scott Spiezio. The Payton deal was blocked when another team(s) claimed him on waivers. http://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports/conten...9a50b70050.html
September 1, 200323 yr Bautista went 4-5 with a 3.71 ERA for Class AA Carolina and 8-4 with a 3.21 ERA at Class A Jupiter Ummm.... I don't have a farm system fetish like some other members who really research the kids in the minors, but what exactly is so damn impressive about Bautista other than people telling us he's impressive? 4-5 with a 3.71 ERA? I realize that my assessment is in primia facia without alot of knowledge about him, but his numbers aren't exaclty those of a world beater. What's the secret, or is this another highly touted P prospect who turns into an incredibly mediocre pitcher?
September 1, 200323 yr I don't like the way the paper talked about Lowell. It sounds as if we went from we will do everything we can to bring Lowell back to a wait and see. I could be wrong and I hope I'm wrong but it sounds as if Lowell won't be back.

Look around the minors and find all the 20-year-olds currently pitching in AA with more strikeouts than innings pitched. You won't find many.
September 1, 200323 yr The snippet about Lowell is consistent with everything else that has come out since they took him off the block. As for him staying and re-signing, be careful what you wish for. If people think the sky is falling on the future of the team now wait until you tie up 10 to 15 percent of your payroll on one player. But that's another story for another day... Palm Beach Post is reporting that the Marlins also explored deals involving Colorado LF Jay Payton and Anaheim 3B Scott Spiezio If you think the Fish gave up alot for Conine, can you imagine what the Rocks and Halo's were asking for to give up Spiezio or Payton?

Maybe not, but I bet you I can find a boatload that actually have a record over .500. Besides, we heard the same things about Demspter, Burnett, Beckett and the rest. I'm guessing if I could throw heat I'd strike alot of 19 and 20 year-olds out too. And his K's still doesn't address his 3.71 ERA.
September 1, 200323 yr No offense Fish Fillet but Susan Kolber or whatever is not a milf. I wouldn't hit it :thumbdown
