Posted February 5, 200619 yr ive been wondering for the past 3 months why the marlins went after Hanley Ramirez instead of Dustin Pedroia? ya i kno this is way after the trade but i want to kno what some thoughts are on it
February 5, 200619 yr Because Hanley Ramirez is regarded as one of the best prospects in all of baseball, he's a 5 tool player, a great defensive shortstop with lot's of offensive potential, etc. etc. etc.
February 5, 200619 yr I don't know of much difference between them, but Ramirez was always regarded as the Sox' future shortstop. While Pedroia was destined for another infield position or outfield.

It's likely Boston hype saying how great Pedroia is, just like they said how great Ramirez is, and how great Casey Fossum was and how great Freddy Sanchez was. What I am trying to say is that it is very difficult to grade Boston's prospects given the huge amount of media attention. Having said that we really have nothing else to go on, other than the fact that he looks uber cool in shades
