Hi guys, I have a ball that was signed by livan hernandez and edgar renteria from

the '97 world series. Unfortunately, when my uncle obtained the signatures he put

it inside a bag before the marker could dry causing the renteria sig. to smudge. I

was wondering if there's any way I can clean it without ruining the ball. Your help

will be greatly appreciated.

You might aswell my friend throw out those signatures, cause u made a mistake in the first place by getting them signed with a marker, over time you will notice the signature disappear. Next time get it with a blue or black ball point pen. Those balls aren't worth anything, the smudge will stay. Start all over again. Happens to the best of us. You can find Livan in Bayside here in Miami with his brother El Duque, all the time, and Edgar Renteria has a house in Boca Raton Florida, you can find them around these areas and places.

 

Quick Edit: If you insist on erasing whatever part os smudged just use alcohol, or any type of cleaner with acid, will get it right out. Buit I suggest u go seek for the autographs in pen.

Well, like I said, it was my uncle that got it signed and not me. I'm well aware that most balls signed with a marker will fade in time but this one is still as dark as it was when I got it almost nine years ago. Thank god he got pudge to sign in pen for the other ball though.

lol alright then, good job, on the pudge, now, if you want to fix the other one, you'll need acid, so do it little by little. You can use asitone (nail polish kit), alcohol, but do it by touching it up, then letting it dry, and do it again and again so you won't mess with the balls content. Don't be afraid to do it, but if I were you seriously, leave it alone. It won't mess with the value as much as you think.
