March 2, 200620 yr For the first time in a long time...maybe since the days Cinci was in the Valley or the year the Salukis won the NIT, or maybe ever...the MVC is looking to have more bids, possibly, than the PAC-10 and ACC, maybe even the Big 12. Almost undeard of for a "mid major" school. That said though, there are 3 locks(IMO), and 3 more possibles. The Locks: Creighton, Wichita State, Northern Iowa The bubbles: Southern Illinois, Bradley, Missouri State It will take a good showing in the conference tournament by all 3 bubble teams, but it is possible. SIU would just need to advance to the semi finals, not easily done but easier with a bye due to the #2 seed. Whichever way it plays out, it's good to see a mid major, any mid major, finally getting some DAP. I'm just happy it happens to be my fav conference.
March 3, 200620 yr Northern Iowa moved away from lock status once they decided to lose three of four including a couple head scratchers.
March 4, 200620 yr Author Man this Mullins kid makes me not miss Hairston and Brooks so much. Still do, but it aint nearly as bad. If he becomes a scorer, the Salukis could be dangerous next year with all 5 starters likely returning.
