March 9, 200620 yr Looking at MLB Gameday I noticed that George was credited with both a blown save and a win. This is a normal thing. However, I'm confused as to how he got a blown save. He pitched in the 6th inning and I know he let runs score but those runs were credited to Bostick. How do you get charged with a blown save in the 6th inning, let alone doing so without giving up any earned runs?
March 9, 200620 yr Yeah, it really kind of sucks.. You can come into a game with the bases juiced, let 2 of those inherited runners score on sac flies, get out of the inning with a perfect line score, and get charged with a blown save.... I think the rule sucks. I don't think anyone should be charged with a blown save, unless they are literally in the game to close it out.. None of this 6th or 7th inning blown save crap.
March 9, 200620 yr That was confusing to me too. Especially during Gagne's streak a couple years ago. I thought he actually blew saves during it but they weren't actually counted as blown.
