Tell me about your favorite fishing hole.

 

There's only one lake that interests me. You ask people what their favorite lake is in Texas and everybody says Lake Fork. It's a couple hours from my house. They just pulled some 15-pounders the other day.

 

How do you know what's going on in Texas? You've been in Jupiter since February.

 

The Internet. I just type in a Google search under "Lake Fork bass guides" and they'll all pop up. I only go to the ones I know personally, and they'll have pictures of what happened that week or that day, how many fish they caught. They give a whole daily report.

 

Can't you fish for bass in Florida?

 

You can. It's just not as fun as Lake Fork. People travel from all around to go fish Lake Fork because of how big the fish are in that lake. You're only allowed to keep fish under 14 inches or over 24 inches, and if they're in between you have to throw them back.

 

What's so fun about fishing?

 

It's something I grew up with. It's something I've been doing since I was a baby.

 

But you throw a hook out there and you sit there and either get lucky or you don't.

 

It's not really that lucky. If you're fishing artificially, like pretty much all people do nowadays ? hardly anyone fishes with live bait anymore ? it's all about your presentation. The fish is going to hit it if you present it right. If you're an idiot who just throws it out there and reels it in, you're not going to get him to hit.

 

Bigger passion, fishing or hunting?

 

Hunting. I've got 30 different deer head hanging in my house.

Beckett's a cheap hunter. You can print that, too. Hopefully he reads it. Me and Beckett are good friends. Beckett has ranches in south Texas. He does this for purposes of writing off taxes and for his own business because deer hunting in Texas is a business.

 

How many ranches do you own?

 

I don't own one. Beckett's been in the bigs for a while. He's got a lot of money. He can do that.

 

Is hunting fair? I mean, you have the gun but the deer doesn't.

 

If deer had guns then I guess I'd be a better sport, right?

Stokes is an awesome classy guy! I mean he would be great in the clubhouse, not to mention his bat! Hopefully he doesnt start out in AAA and makes the big club!
