March 28, 200620 yr Have you guys seen the latest mock draft they have? They have got Tyrus Thomas now going #1 overall in this years draft. Now I understand that the kid has got amazing talent and will be a stud some day in the NBA but to draft him over guys like Adam Morrison, Rudy Gay and LaMarcus Aldridge? I don't know. Also, last time I checked the Bobcats used a lottery pick on Sean May who plays the exact position and a solid SF in Gerald Wallace. I can't see why they would draft him. :confused
March 28, 200620 yr I wouldnt give too much weight to nbadraft.net. It's a fun site to see the range in which certain guys are projected. It also gives a "decent" bio on guys. It has the Magic selecting McRoberts who is in strong contrast to their needs.
March 28, 200620 yr I honestly don't understand the NBA Draft, I can never get a read on it. In football, I can watch guys play in college and at least have a good idea of where they're going to go, I have no idea in basketball. Like, for example, why is Marco Killingsworth, who has no touch around the basket and a bad post offensive game, a 1st round pick and Terence Dials isn't even on the board. That just makes no sense to me.

That just makes no sense to me. A LOT of it has to do with potential. Since NFL has a higher age limit, they get more polished guys. NBA teams have to balance "upside" with current projection. That is the main reason Thomas is getting so much hype. He was leaping out of the gym. Also, it is well established that the draft is pretty much a crapshoot after pick 9 or so. Whereas with NFL you have a lot more players. So it's anyones guess.
March 28, 200620 yr Tyrus Thomas is a beast athletically but I don't know if he has even close the offensive polish to warrant a no. 1 pick at this point. Reminds me alot of Stro Swift, tween guy, with a ton of athletic ability who still hasn't found his nitch yet. That said, this draft is very weak and I hope Chicago sends its picks to the T'Wolves in addition to what it takes for KG.

I think no other team is in better position to acquire Garnett than the Bulls. Chicago also has an enormous advantage in that they dont need to match contracts, since they are going to be under the cap. They are going to have to give up some young prized talent though. Worth it IMO.
March 28, 200620 yr I think Tyrus Thomas is right there with the elite guys in the draft. Morrison's diabetes is going to be an ongoing issue for any team drafting him. Rudy Gay is super talented, but super lazy and inconsistent. Aldridge got completely shut down in tourny by Big Baby -- which has to raise some questions. No player in the NCAA is playing better than Thomas right now, and I don't see why he can't be a top 3 pick if he doesn't keep it up. With that said, NBADraft.net is a mediocre site. Their profiles are good but their mock drafts are never correct -- especially this early.

March 28, 200620 yr Yeah, I don't like this class at all. I want Toronto to get Morrison (would need a lottery break) or trade down. Morrison as a dino would make me care again. A front court of Bosh-Charlie V-Morrison would cause me to punch people in the face out of sheer excitement.

Thomas has had two years of college ball as well, Stoudamire doesn't. It's one thing to be very raw coming out of high school, another to be that way after a couple years in college.

Thomas really has only had this year. He came into college at 6'6'', 180lbs and suffered a neck injury that didn't allow him to play and forced him to redshirt. Somehow during the rehab and redshirt year he grew 3 inches and gained 30lbs to stand at his current size of 6'9''. Amare is also very old for his grade (about 2 years older than most), while Thomas is very young for his grade (could easily have been a true freshman age wise this year). If Thomas were to declare this year, he would be only 3 months older than Stoudemire was when he was drafted. So on the age curve, you could actually make the argument that Thomas is more advanced at this stage.

March 28, 200620 yr If Morrison joins Toronto, good God. They should add Sam Cassell and Jake Tsakalidis and form the all ugly team.
