WTF PANTHERS??? Very bad news for Panther fans...

Featured Replies

4 of the remaining 8 Panthers games of the season are NO TV games, what the hell?

South Florida is the worst sports market ever, there isn't another team on the face of this earth who would have 4 of their remaining 8 games not on TV at the end of a playoff race like this. Absolutely flat out ridiculous and absurd and these games will also be blacked out on NHL Center Ice.

FU*KING RIDICULOUS

RALEIGH, N.C. - Although the Panthers are in a race for their first playoff appearance since 2000, the only way fans will be able to see important games in their postseason push is from inside BankAtlantic Center.

Because of conflicts with the Marlins, Fox Sports Net Florida will not televise four of the Panthers' final home games, starting Wednesday against Atlanta. Other games not televised are: Pittsburgh, Friday; Tampa Bay on April 9; Washington on April 15. Monday's game at Tampa Bay will be on Sun Sports.

Because FSNF and cable partner Sun Sports carry the Marlins and Devil Rays, there is no room for the Panthers on either network. The team also has some radio conflicts, with the Panthers being broadcast on 1360 AM six times.

According to Randy Moller, the team's vice president of broadcasting, the Marlins' regular season contractually overrules the Panthers, although if the Panthers make the playoffs, postseason games would be broadcast on the team's flagship station, which would bump the Marlins.

''We go through the selection process with them, and there are conflicts we have to work around,'' Panthers executive Michael Yormark said. ``But we're in the hunt, and it would be nice if these games were being televised.''

FSNF's contract calls for the network to broadcast 70 of 82 games, with the games not covered decided before the start of the season.

''We knew this going into the season,'' Moller said. ``It's just unfortunate we're not on during the playoff race, but there's nothing that can be done. We're televising the games in Toronto and Ottawa, and that's good. There's going to be a lot of people watching those ones.''

edit: looks like I accidentally posted this in Other Sports instead of the Panthers forum, could a mod please move it to the Panthers forum?

This is a businessman. He'd rather have you buy a ticket. I don't think there's anything coincidental about this arrangement.

To the market, the Marlins are still higher on the food chain.

Plus, I'm sure the Panthers are real teed off that these also happen to be home games with playoff implications.

It's as much a business move at it is poorly timed, that's all.
