LEXINGTON, Ky. ? (AP) ? Kentucky point guard Rajon Rondo will announce that he's entering the NBA draft, a source familiar with the decision confirmed Tuesday.

Rondo, a sophomore who led the Wildcats in points, assists, rebounds and steals, has scheduled a 1 p.m. Tuesday news conference. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because he didn't want to upstage Rondo's announcement.

In its Tuesday editions, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported that Rondo would enter the draft, and quoted

Kentucky coach Tubby Smith as saying Rondo had not yet hired an agent.

Should Rondo hire an agent, he would forgo his remaining college eligibility.

Rondo, a McDonald's high school All-American from Louisville, was considered the quickest and most athletic of the guard-heavy lineup. But midway through Kentucky's season, subpar by the school's standards, Smith benched Rondo and several other starters in an attempt to ignite the team.

Rondo's classmate, center Randolph Morris, attempted to enter the draft a year ago but went undrafted. He returned to Kentucky this season but only after being suspended for 14 games for his association with a sports agent.

Kelenna Azubuike, another star of last year's Wildcats, hired an agent but he too wasn't chosen by a professional team.

That guy is a tool.

I don't know if he'll make it in the NBA, this is a case where a guy really needed to stay in school to boost his value.

ESPN and nbadraft.net have him in the top 15

he is "long" and a helluva defender... I never thought he was that good offensively though

The Knicks will trade up to get him.

He couldn't shoot a three into the Grand Canyon.
