April 19, 200620 yr Ehud Olmert officially succeeds Ariel Sharon, who is declared permanently incapacitated due to his recent stroke and subsequent coma, as Prime Minister of Israel. Its sad too see it happen. Ariel Sharon was a great man, leader, and a activist for peace in the Middle East. I will like to see how Ehud Olmert continues his legacy and Sharon's push toward peace.
April 19, 200620 yr Meanwhile, Olmert (some people call him Olm-Rat) gets mealy-mouthed over the Hamas-condoned suicide bombing in Tel Aviv. Way to go dumbschmuck! I bet this government will fall in 20 months. It is just too weak.
April 19, 200620 yr Author Meanwhile, Olmert (some people call him Olm-Rat) gets mealy-mouthed over the Hamas-condoned suicide bombing in Tel Aviv. Way to go dumbschmuck! I bet this government will fall in 20 months. It is just too weak. Israel struck-back on the Palestinians after the suicide bombing this week. They are debating whether to do anything to Hamas, the government of Palestine. I heard that this morning on American Morning on CNN.
April 19, 200620 yr Is Sharon in a permanent coma? There hasn't been much news about his condition since he became ill.
April 19, 200620 yr Author Is Sharon in a permanent coma? There hasn't been much news about his condition since he became ill. I've been wondering why there has been nothing on the news about him lately. He is in a coma, he has been in it since early January, so it could be considered a permanent coma because with his condition it is unlikely that he will awaken.
April 19, 200620 yr Author Best guy since Rabin. Yeah. They were both great leaders who all they wanted was Israel to be peaceful. I guess the quote is true, "Only the good die young."
April 19, 200620 yr I'm under the assumption that he is not going to come out of it, otherwise there would be more information. But the news articles about his condition a few months back were not very hopeful. In addition, the fact that he has now been permanently replaced doesn't bode well.
April 19, 200620 yr They induced the coma. I believe though that it was done because he would die for sure if he stayed conscious.
April 19, 200620 yr Author They induced the coma. I believe though that it was done because he would die for sure if he stayed conscious. They did it at first because if the brain is not awaken it thelps it to heal from injury faster. They tried to take him out of the induced coma but he never awoke. If Sharon wasn't as important as he was the doctors said they would have declared him DOA at the hospital.
April 19, 200620 yr The doctors are going to be in a complicated situation. Good thing this didn't happen in the U.S., or it would be Terri Schiavo x100.
April 20, 200620 yr Best guy since Rabin. Yeah. They were both great leaders who all they wanted was Israel to be peaceful. I guess the quote is true, "Only the good die young." If young is 80 than sure. I've heard from the ultra-zionist circles that they feel Olmert is weak. I don't think there has been enough time for us to consider him that. Barak, was weak. Olmert hasn't even been full-time PM for scarce a few days.
