May 17, 200620 yr ^_^ )-->QUOTE( ^_^ @ May 16 2006, 8:28 PM) 1149657[/snapback] no worries there is no way what he proposed last night will pass the house. the republicans in the house will not bend. they consider what bush outlines last night as amnesty. No. The only pro-immigration aspect of the bill would be to allow those long-standing immigrants a path to eventual citizenship after heavy fines and time as workers. If Republicans wouldn't want even that, then what the hell would a compromise encompass? Bush is already sending newly arrived aliens back; he's increasing border security; and he's supplying only temporary quest worker programs with special IDs that can't be copied.
May 17, 200620 yr Real credible site. Seriously. My favorite line from the article: "Murders, kidnappings, and violent drug smuggling gangs have turned the southern border into a warzone. These paramilitary organizations are being run by the Bush crime syndicate itself in order to protect drug routes, according to former DEA official Cele Castillo. Why would Bush hamper the operational efficiency of his family's own brutal drug runners by militarizing the border?" The Bush Crime Syndicate???? Are we supposed to believe that: + =
May 17, 200620 yr The House Republicans would be idiotic not to go with this. This a compromise proposal. Follow the lead of your president, dumbasses.
May 17, 200620 yr It's like the uber-conservatives are controlling the government. I've never seen anything so partisan and so far to the right become a realistic threat to the passing of a popular bill. I get their beef--it's in their right to discuss it and not support it. But I mean, the Dems and and coalition have already made concessions in the bill. Not much else they can do, short of giving the Reps everything they want.
May 17, 200620 yr The House Republicans would be idiotic not to go with this. This a compromise proposal. Follow the lead of your president, dumbasses. mistake 1- you assume they will stick by a guy polling at 29-33% right now. if you didn't realize a lot of these people have to be re-elected this year and they do not want to tie themselves down to a sinking ship. so when the dems run on their only platform of "we hate bush, we aren't bush" these republicans can say the same things. thus taking out a major sticking point the dems have. aside from that they don't have much else. mistake 2- a lot of the non-moderate conservatives do see this as amnesty and they do not want amnesty under any circumstance. thus the politicos will legislate where they see the votes. the house republicans realize they have a monopoly of powers. the house, the senate, the supreme court and oh yeah the presidency. it's not like all of that came by mistake americans voted for that to happen over the span of a handful of elections. and they will use this power to their advantage. the dems would do the same thing.

May 17, 200620 yr Republicans up for re-election this fall are going to continue to distance themselves from this President. They don't want to be dragged down with him.
