Posted May 20, 200618 yr Buck and McCarver just blasting Loria for getting $ 30 million in revenue sharing and only spending $ 15 million on payroll. They also said that a minumum payroll will be a big part of the next CBA to be negotiated.
May 20, 200618 yr buck and mccarver are just posting lipservice to their boss(steinbrenner)...if they had common sense they would realize that without teams like the marlins, the yankees and red sox wouldnt have anyone to pick on...baseball needs monsters and bottom feeders...that...or maybe...just maybe A f***ING SALARY CAP!!!!!!!!!!!...so that truly...spring will represent a time when every one has a worthy shot at the title like in the NFL and NHL and to some extent in the NBA...MLB is a JOKE as an organization...steinbrenner and selig need to die and die quickly for MLB to survive its own greed and mishandling of important decisions like leaving the marlins hanging out to dry for 13 years now...

Of course it does, but I'm sure 2003 and rferry will disagree saying haveing the haves & have-nots is the best thing for baseball
May 20, 200618 yr While baseball certainly has problems, I don't think the NFL is a good model. I like football but not the NFL. Too many teams make the playoffs, the scheduling is ridiculous, and the drastic drop offs in team performance over the years makes the sport dull to watch. The NFL only does well because the sport is contact. I totally disagree. I think that the parity is what is great about the nfl and the fact that fans of every team can legtimately go into each season thinking their team has a chance or will have a chance again soon. There are way too many fans of baseball teams that know their team will have no chance and that we will see the same few teams at the end of every year because they spend the most money, that to me is boring.

Too many teams make the playoffs, the scheduling is ridiculous, and the drastic drop offs in team performance over the years makes the sport dull to watch. The NFL only does well because the sport is contact. And baseball is better ? The Yankees, Red Sox, Atlanta, the Cardinals, and now it would seem the Mets, have their permanent places in the playoffs from now on. That sure makes people in Milwaukee, Tampa Bay, Cincinnati, and Baltimore excited to know every season they are not going to make the playoffs. Its killed baseball interest in Tampa, I have a cousin there that says that no one cares about baseball over there because its a lost cause.....they can NEVER win the division or even get the Wild Card so why bother ? Thank goodness Huizenga refused to move the Marlins into that league in 1998 when MLB wanted him too. In the NFL you know by the nature of the game you'll have a shot at the very least the playoffs and maybe even a Super Bowl every 3-4 years. If the NFL had the same set up as MLB, Green Bay would have been history years ago, instead of the football institution it is now.
