  1. Great article. Here is the essence: According to multiple published reports, the Marlins had the opportunity to do exactly that with Nolasco. Ken Rosenthal reported that the Rockies were willing to send “two quality prospects to Miami for Nolasco, but they wanted the Marlins to pick up a good sized chunk of the money Nolasco was still owed. Instead, the Marlins took the Dodgers deal, which freed them of his salary but gave them minimal talent. The Marlins had a choice, and they chose current cash savings over future talent. Spot on. Anyone who defends this trade as a legitimate baseball move needs to set down the FO water they're carrying and reassess. Not only did they save by getting rid of Nolasco's contract. They also save by forfeiting money they are allowed to spend in the international pool. Win win for Loria. Its pathetic.
  2. I find it comical that yankees fans are even trying to defend this And in the first play, the runner was not out by 10 feet. It wa actually a pretty bang bang play and he was already running at full speed. The catcher was blocking the plate so there is nothing else he could have done. As Jobba chamberlain even said when you try and not play full speed is when you get hurt. Sucks that the yankees catcher got hurt but that is part of that position, there was no intent there whereas on Duncans play there was full intent.
  3. Here is the complete interview with Dupay on Mike and Mike. Good interview, they discuss the marlins extensively. Have to be an insider to listen to it. Not sure how I can download and make it available to others. http://insider.espn.go.com/insider/espnrad...&id=3143888
  4. Reed in center...Resop on the mound.... ....team (resop) still implodes despite facing a lineup filled with waiver-wire fodder and minor leaguers. I've said this countless times on this forum, but you can't make chicken salad out of chicken sh!t no matter how much mayonnaise you put in it... our manager doesn't suck...our bullpen does. his hands are tied... lets get that fixed for next year I agree 100% with what you are saying and have been saying it all year.
  5. I was saying over and over that keeping Herges in will cost us the season.... wow, I dont care what anyone on here tells me.....I will love to see Joe Girardi get the he!@ out of town. He's cost us more games than I've ever seen. This is getting so old already. Dont you get it. Our bullpen sucks. It doesnt matter who he puts in there, they have a good chance of sucking so its real easy for you to say why did he put herges in there but who else do you want in there. You cant have Borowski and Tankersley pitch every inning.
  6. Once again we fail to drive in the run with 2 chances with a runner at third and less than 2 outs.
  7. Anyone else with DirecTV not getting the game on 635? Yes, same problem, whats up with this
  8. I live here in tampa and on the radio they constantly bash Gathright for his noodle arm and poor defensive play and his lack of any offensive skill whatsoever besides his speed. Count me among one of those who did not want that trade to happen and am thankful it didnt.
  9. He is currently 4 for his last 28 over the last 8 games and 1 for his last 17. Between the start to the season and what he is currently mired in, he was actually looking pretty nice batting over .300.
  10. I still believe someone will make an offer the Marlins can't turn down by the All-Star break for Cabrera. If you notice they only talked about Willis as "untouchable" or "practically untouchable". No mention of Cabrera. :mischief2 I think the only reason people assume Willis is giong is because he already makes over 4 million and that number will continue to rise. Correct me if im wrong but I think Cabrera still makes well under a million so there is really no reason from a payroll standpoint to get rid of him.
  11. While baseball certainly has problems, I don't think the NFL is a good model. I like football but not the NFL. Too many teams make the playoffs, the scheduling is ridiculous, and the drastic drop offs in team performance over the years makes the sport dull to watch. The NFL only does well because the sport is contact. I totally disagree. I think that the parity is what is great about the nfl and the fact that fans of every team can legtimately go into each season thinking their team has a chance or will have a chance again soon. There are way too many fans of baseball teams that know their team will have no chance and that we will see the same few teams at the end of every year because they spend the most money, that to me is boring.
  12. This is getting old. You Girardi haters need to give it a rest.
  13. They should just change it from Baseball Tonight to Red Sox and Yankee Highlights My thoughts exactly
  14. Screw Mike Lowell. He cost us Josh Beckett and I had to endure his sorry ass last year. Screw him right in the ear. that's exactly the reason why I hate him. f***er. Im sorry but thats a very silly reason to hate the guy. Its not his fault Beckett was packaged in the deal. Its not like he said I will only go to someplace if Beckett is included. Beinfest made the trade and we will all have to live with it. And yes the end to his marlins career was rather unproductive but the guy had many solid years with the fish and was a huge part of winning a world series. Talk about what have you done for me lately. Now if you want to be mad about him talking trash in the clubhouse and media, I am ok with that because that is the reason I dont like AJ. But not liking Lowell because he had a bad year and a big contract that had to be moved, well thats just silly. In all honesty, with the way this front office did the moves this year, theres better than a 50/50 chance beckett was getting moved anyways with his contract. I will continue to root for Josh and Mike even though I do not like the red sox.
  15. gave up 2 minor league pitchers for 4 games?
  16. I have no problem with this whatsoever. Yes it sucks we are losing a player of his caliber but it is painfully clear that is what he wants and thats all he wants. He brought this upon himself by all his negative comments. Seems to me he has been somewhat of a clubhouse cancer and if that is the case it is probably best for both parties to just part ways and move on.
  17. Interesting. When AJ had won 7 in a row...I never saw anyone calling out his lack of heart and how poor of a pitcher he was. When it comes down to it, those 7 wins are as critical now as they were then. The guy has just become the personal whiiping boy of the Marlin fan base because he is outspoken and will go and get his money in the off-season lke anyother person in his situation will do. I am sure he will enjoy moving on to a franchise where he can be appreciated and not berated after everything he does. Get off your high horse. I personally never had a problem with AJ's inconsistencies till he started running his mouth blaming all his problems on everyone and everything but himself. I remember even back in 2003 he blamed management for his injury and did not want to come back and play here then. Constant whining and blaming of others is not being outspoken. And you make it sound like this is just marlins fans who do this, like I said if a player on your team constantly bashed your organization and cried and moaned constantly, I dont think he would be your favorite player either.
  18. How do you know he feeds off the energy in the ballpark? I've never seen him do it... and certainly in big games with big crowds he choked. I dont "know" per say, but I think a guy who publicly makes alot of comments about fan support and calls it depressing, obviously wants to pitch in a great atmosphere. I just find it hysterical how a 28 year old with his numbers this season, can catch so much flak. Thats the reason he catches so much flak. Its never AJ's fault when something goes wrong. He is always complaining. Would a guy who constantly badmouthed your organiztion be your favorite player? He is a good pitcher who has the potential to be great but he has a terrible attitude.
  19. They are retiring Ryne Sandbergs jersey live on WGN.
