June 8, 200620 yr Sorry if already posted..... But in somewhat related Marlins news, The Tampa Bay DevilRays sent Joey Gathright down to the minors today. I admit I was one of the guys on here that thought we should trade for Gathright, but not for Olsen ( THANK GOD WE DIDN'T) He may have had different numbers if he was on our team, but the Tampa Bay Ownership really screwed this one up with asking so much for him Borchard, Abercrombie, and the others have done a decent job in CF this year considering the circumstances...
June 8, 200620 yr He'll probably still be traded, if Baldelli stays healthy for any legnth of time. That said, TB will probably still have too high an asking price for him.

June 8, 200620 yr im glad we didnt trade away Olsen but ive always liked Gathright alot and i hope he does good in the future even if its not wit tampa bay.
June 8, 200620 yr Who did they call up? Or did Balldeli come back? Balldeli and Cantu both came off the DL.
June 8, 200620 yr Who did they call up? Or did Balldeli come back? Baldelli was activated off the DL and it appears some Rays fans couldn't wait for Gathright to be sent down http://forums.espn.go.com/espn/thread?foru...PostID=24270927 MarlinLou I think you are awesome but you were way off on this one Dude...Gathright is a present day version of GaryPettis except with an iron glove
June 8, 200620 yr I live here in tampa and on the radio they constantly bash Gathright for his noodle arm and poor defensive play and his lack of any offensive skill whatsoever besides his speed. Count me among one of those who did not want that trade to happen and am thankful it didnt.
June 8, 200620 yr People also wanted to trade Nolasco too. When I say people, I mean mostly just MarlinsLou.
June 8, 200620 yr ummm....Gathright isn't better then anyone in their OF now but he's still better then Kool Aid.
June 8, 200620 yr ummm....Gathright isn't better then anyone in their OF now but he's still better then Kool Aid. and still not worth one of our better pitching prospects.
June 8, 200620 yr ummm....Gathright isn't better then anyone in their OF now but he's still better then Kool Aid. Kool Aid was outplaying Gathright in every area except OBP...even in that area Abercrombie has become much more patient at the plate in the past 3-4 weeks
June 8, 200620 yr ummm....Gathright isn't better then anyone in their OF now but he's still better then Kool Aid. and still not worth one of our better pitching prospects. Anyone of our pitching "prospects" would have been too much. Many of you were saying that Gathright was not the long term answer so why waste time and a prospect. In the meantime, we could learn that Hermida can fill the bill, and the FO for some reason has had their eye on Cody Ross for awhile to play right. The answer my friends could be from within all along.
