Can't we all just ignore this moron? Doesn't everyone realize he is starved for attention and loves when people respond to him? I've stopped reading his posts...I highly recommend it. :thumbup The 1st smart guy in the bunch of maroons :lol You understand Heywood, he was referring to you. lolol Exactly, and you're one of the maroons :lol Don't you get it ?

Can't we all just ignore this moron? Doesn't everyone realize he is starved for attention and loves when people respond to him? I've stopped reading his posts...I highly recommend it. :thumbup The 1st smart guy in the bunch of maroons :lol I can certainly understand the logic behind a player being drafted this year not wanting to play for the Marlins. I mean, what player would ACTUALLY WANT to be drafted by a team poised to contend for the World Series again in 2008-09? I mean, that's even around the time they could be ready for the big leagues. PERISH THE THOUGHT. If the Marlins are lucky, EXTREMELY lucky. And that's if the FO hasn't traded everyone making more than 2?.

Marlins Notes: Injury updates, closer role, Willis rumors, etc
Gee, that's not what you said. Everyday a new fabrication, a new mistruth, and everyday you get caught. You said what you said, no getting around it. Right out of the Joe Arriola playbook. 2003 you believe if you say that about me enough times it will become the truth. The fact is I never said I WANTED them to trade him, I said I thought they SHOULD. Just go ahead and do it now, and spare us the pain of doing it just as he makes his big $$$.
-
What if......
If I am drafted by the Marlins I demand an outrageous amount and sit until they pay me, or until college starts. If someone like the Rangers, Milwaukee, Baltimore or Detroit draft me I sign right away, as they'll pay fairly and I have a chance with an ownership and FO that wants to compete. And when you tear up your knee or you find out you really can't hit a college-level curveball you'll be changing flat tires at Firestone for the rest of your life, broke and wishing you had that $2 million signing bonus in the bank. See if it was me, I'd be making sure I recieve my degree. As for the Marlins, they will never pay that kind of signing bonus -- guess you haven't heard. Loria is saving his $$$$ until we get a stadium. I imagine next year he'll trade away the # 1 or # 2 pick so he doesn't have to pay a top pick signing bonus.

weve got some pitchers that can flat out rake.
willis mitre nolasco and vargas when he comes back up its kinda cool...to have some respectable hitters instead of automatic outs do you think baseball is moving towards pitchers having to be able to hit as well? Sure just look at all those AL pitchers that hit so well. They get HR after HR I think someday we might have DH rule all over which is crap if so god I hate the DH. I hate it worse then I hate the mets. True, REAL baseball has pitchers being just like all other ballplayers. The DH also hurts baseball stratgety too. forget the bat, I just like the arm of Nolasco. Me too, I thought he threw 93 but was at 96 last night, was the gun messing up or is he really a power arm. i think he really is a power arm. he consistently throws 93-95, but can get it up to 96/97. Can't believe we got him, Mitre and Pinto for a year of JP, Cubs must be kicking themselves Curse of the Billy Goat or Curse of the Stupid FO ? Either way the Cubs are gonna go another year without winning it all.

You did. "I say cut your losses now, and get what you can for him." - Heywood Jablome, May 22, 2006 http://www.marlinbaseball.com/forums/index...dpost&p=1156425 ouch. :lol There is a difference between want and what is best for the franchise. I want him to stay, but I look at it fatalistically -- if he stays then its great, and if he goes I've already been ready for it. I still say if he's not going to be here in the longrun, get him out of here and bring in a schmoe to play until we have the new stadium, or the Marlins are gone to another city. "Just think how he would hit in front of Pujols?" WHAT? What the hell are you talking about? Who the hell cares how he'd hit in front of Pujols? Are you a fan of the Marlins or the Cardinals? Sounds like you're more a fan of Cabrera than the Marlins. "Maybe he's not suited for this kind of pressure." How would you know? Yeah he's having a really terrible season. That .321 average is a mess. Heywood you're too much... Of course I'm a Marlins fan, but lets be serious. He's not going to be here in 2 years, he more than likely will be gone by July 31st, so why act like he'll be a Marlin ? And as for good / bad year well he's hitting the ball, but where are the HR's ? Most "big bats" already have 10+, he's lagging behind. Guess the 3rd base on the Marlins is cursed again this year. He's on pace to hit 22 HR's this year well below the 33 he hit last year and in 2004. Keep dreaming. I know deep down inside you want the FO to trade Cabrerra but its not gonna happen. :angel I wish we could get a team to surround Cabrera and bring out the best in him. He seems to be a moody type of player, one that needs to be prodded to get the best out of him. Dontrelle is the opposite, he can self-motivate and is a real team leader, Miggy is just not that type. Look at the way he sulked last year, and then look at his off-season shape he got into -- like he didn't care and added those 10-15 extra lbs. This season his errors, just lazy and not acceptable. Had he not been Miggy, but some other schmoe with a .240 BA you guys would have been calling for his head and would be complaining your heads off about his dismal defense. I say cut your losses now, and get what you can for him. Its a loss of a potential superstar, but if he doesn't have the mental fortitude to go through this process we are going through now, get what you can for him now, and not wait for this year & next year for his bat to follow his lazy defense. Again... Cabrera's doing poorly? He's hitting about the same average with a higher OPS this year than last. And helping more the defense than he ever did in the outfield where he routinely misplayed outs into singles and singles into doubles. His HR's are lagging behind his pace of both 2004 and 2005. You did. "I say cut your losses now, and get what you can for him." - Heywood Jablome, May 22, 2006 http://www.marlinbaseball.com/forums/index...dpost&p=1156425 Again its not what I want, but what I see as going to happen. I wish they'd just go ahead and do it now. This FO could care less about the team on the field right now, so what would it matter ?

why not just become an arizona fan? Why should I ? It's not the Marlins players I dislike, but the Marlins FO and ownership. I've been a Marlins fan since day one, even watching John Lynch pitch the 1st Minor League game in Marlins Organization history. I'm not gonna leave being a Marlins fan, but I sure as hell am not gonna be quiet about what I see as bad ownership that is the worst in MLB. Being in your mother's womb during the Marlins 1st Minor League game doesn't really count as "watching" it. Dude I have my 1st grandchild on the way -- in October -- I'm a little older than that.

What if......
You fail to realize that buying out kids arby years is the exception, not the rule. Or thats the impression I have always had. And Miggy is an exceptional player. Smarter to get him to sign a contract now for $ 3.5 million instead of waiting for arbitration and he gets $ 5 million. If they trade him (which is likely) he would be easier to trade with a signed contract instead of being an arby baby. You'd have better leverage and get more in return because the Miggy price would be less for the team buying him. Well, think of it this way. What kid in his right mind would reject ANY major league contract, REALLY? Think, it won't happen! Their is opportunity to grow here, players would be happy and lucky to begin their careers here. Trust me! Absolutely. Especially if they are a HS kid. They have college to leverage against the pros.

Last I checked this team has a good GM and a deep system with lot of potential for the future That will all be traded away once they are ready to make $$$. Even with the new stadium we'll be in the poorhouse with this owner. Loria needs to sell the team.

More Trade Rumors
the article can be found @ ProSportsDaily.com Here it is: Pitching will determine division title D-Backs on right track in pursuit of D-Train John Gambadoro Special for azcentral.com May. 22, 2006 08:45 AM With just over a quarter of the season gone, it's safe to say that the Arizona Diamondbacks are going to be in the pennant chase through the final month of the season. Problem is, it is likely San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Colorado are also going to be in that race. In what may be the most competitive division from top to bottom in baseball, the National League West has no clear-cut favorite at this point. The West is the only division in which every team is playing above .500 ball and all five teams are within two games of each other. How the West is won in all likelihood will come down to which team is willing to pull the trigger for a front-line starting pitcher. And make no mistake the Diamondbacks are way out in front in that search for one more dominant starter. advertisement Arizona has had discussions with the Florida Marlins about acquiring left-hander Dontrelle Willis to form a solid 1-2 punch with Brandon Webb. While Florida is unlikely to trade Willis at this time there is a chance it will be more willing to deal him come July and the trade deadline. Willis has struggled this year, going 1-5 with a 5.12 ERA. Last season Willis finished second in the Cy Young voting after posting a 22-10 record and 2.63 ERA last year. But during the off-season, Florida dismantled a competitive team, trading away Paul LoDuca, Carlos Delgado, Luis Castillo, Mike Lowell, Josh Beckett and Juan Pierre. They also let A.J. Burnett leave via free agency. In the process, the Marlins lowered their payroll from $60 million to $15 million. They have six rookies in the starting lineup this season and Willis is stuck on a bad team in the rebuilding mode. His $4.35 million salary is tops on the team and the Marlins may want to trade him before he reaches his boiling point and demands a trade, possibly bringing down his trade value. Playing on a team 20 games below .500 and already 14? games out of first place is clearly wearing on him. Willis' problems this season have nothing to do with mechanics. His velocity is the same as it was last year - a good fastball in the low 90s - and there is nothing wrong with his breaking ball. On Sunday he pitched eight innings, giving up just two earned runs in a 3-0 loss to Tampa Bay. The ability to dominate is still there, so a change of scenery would appear in order for Willis to re-establish himself as one of the top left-handers in the game. To acquire Willis, a team would have to give up a package of three prospects. Florida will not be willing to add salary; it wants to add to its already stacked minor-league system with players who are not only near-ready for the majors but are also under control for four or five years. The Diamondbacks would most likely have to part with one of their big four - Carlos Quentin, Stephen Drew, Justin Upton or Chris Young, plus two other prospects ranked among the organization's top 10. The question is, will Willis be worth three top prospects? At 24 years old and with star quality, Willis could be at the top of the Diamondbacks rotation for the next 10 years and could be a big draw at the box office. A combination of Webb and Willis, while not as good as Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling during their D-Back years, is still good enough to make Arizona a threat every year. That duo would easily be considered among the top in baseball. Plus, while Arizona is loaded with field-position talent in the minor leagues, it does not have what would be considered great pitching talent in the high minors. Dustin Nippert, who is in Triple-A Tucson, may be the pitching prospect who is closest to breaking through. Arizona has plans on being big-time spenders in free agency this year and has a goal of landing two prime-time pitchers with the $25 to $30 million it'll go shopping with. But waiting for the free agency market to open up is a crapshoot. The chances that Mark Mulder, Barry Zito, Ted Lilly, Jose Contreras, Jason Marquis, Andy Pettitte and Jason Schmidt all become available are slim. While each of those players are scheduled to reach free agency later this year, some of them will resign with their teams and others could be dealt at the trade deadline. And if the market on quality starting pitching in free agency shrinks, it will be more difficult for Arizona to compete with the big spenders such as the New York Yankees and the New York Mets. So when a top talent like Willis becomes available, you jump at the opportunity to land him even if it means trading away young talent. The fact that Willis is young and not a veteran near the end like Greg Maddux - who would be wise to want out of Chicago at the deadline -- makes trading away prospects easier. Willis is arbitration eligible for the next three years and will cost quite a penny for any team that trades for him, which is another reason Florida may decide to move him. If it is Arizona, the D-Backs could lock him up to a long-term deal to avoid arbitration plus take away a free agency year or two. That was the philosophy in the recent signings of Brandon Webb and Chad Tracy. Willis will likely see his salary soar to upwards of $6 million if he does hit arbitration. Getting Willis would make the Diamondbacks the favorites in the West. It would allow the team to move Orlando Hernandez or Juan Cruz out of the rotation to the bullpen and give the Diamondbacks a much needed left-handed starter in a division that has Barry Bonds, J.D. Drew, Brian Giles and Todd Helton swinging from the left side. And if the Diamondbacks trade for Willis and then land one of the aforementioned free agents during the off-season, they will be in position to win a World Series next year and compete for a championship for years to come. So while losing top young talent can be hard, the name of the game is always pitching. It is much more difficult for an organization to find quality pitchers than position players. So if the D-Train does become available in July, expect the Diamondbacks to be all aboard in an effort to acquire him. Wouldn't it be nice to have a FO with a vision for the future like Arizona ? :thumbup

Things That Make You Go Ugghhhh
I think Girardi is damned whichever person he brings in Wear those shirts, and get them in front of the cameras for ESPN ESPN ? LOL......don't expect to see the Marlins on ESPN unless they have to show us. We got our one game on ESPN already this year, and it was for GD sure not at Dolphin Stadium. I meant BBTN Even then we rarely get clips of our games on. Even with a 9-0 lead tonight, and it being the Cubs, fat Kruk will find something nasty to say about the Fish, you watch and see.

To all the Joe Haters...
The Braves talent is not much better than ours. With the exception of Chipper and Andrew Jones, the young talent is comprable. Everyone has Hermida rated a better prospect than Francouer. We'll all get to see him now in the next couple of days and judge for ourselves. McCann is hitting above his head right now. He won't lead the league in hitting I promise you that. We also have a surplus of young pitching talent that the Braves wish they had. We'll be in much better shape than the Braves in 2 to 3 years. By the way, Bush is doing a great job, too bad you just don't get it. However, this is not a political thread. That stuff doesn't belong here. Dude learn to do your quotes right. I didn't say any of the above.

Marlins Notes: Injury updates, closer role, Willis rumors, etc
yay...an intelligent post...couldnt have said it better myself...heywood...how often do you think ted williams wanted to be traded from the red sox? yeah...believe it or not, some people never play on a winner, thats life, thats baseball Hotcorner & Jimmy, who said I wanted him traded period ? I don't want him traded, but this FO has shown it will trade anyone. All I am saying is maybe Cabrera is not best suited for this kind of pressure. This is the kind of team that he will not excel with. Just think how he would hit in front of Pujols ? He's already hitting the ball well, but with that protection OMFG ! I just would put a $ 20 on him being traded before the deadline. It really has NOTHING to do with Miggy, it has all to do with the FO. Same goes with D-Train. No I don't want him traded, but do I think he will be ? YES.

To all the Joe Haters...
I think they drafted them all... Isn't that what I said ? Dude you guys have got to seriously lighten up....geesh not everything I say is trolling :lol
