  1. I just heard from a friend of mine who knows a guy who knows the guy who sells beer at the stadium while wearing a giant green elephant thing hat that he heard from one of the janitors who was picking up Beinfest's trash that the Marlins are thinking of trading Uggla and Hermida to the Yankees for naked pictures of Mariah Carey that Jeter took when he was dating her. funny. if your IQ is 40, that is. sorry for sharing what i hear. i'll make sure to never do it again. idiots. Your source doesn't appear to be too credible. there seems to be a key word in his text. "might", does not mean definite. like i said, sorry for sharing what i hear. ill keep the smoke to myself.

  3. i have a friend who works in the marlins organization who just texted me "one of our guys might be traded to the yankees in the next hour" and then i saw this thread... don't shoot the messenger. if true - i will not be a happy camper....
  4. I've been hearing some rumors. Bowmeester for Kopitar. I think this would work out well for both teams. can you share where you heard that? Hockeybuzz.com I usually don't put too much stock into the rumors that are posted on that site. I'd say for every correct rumor that is posted there there are 10-15 bogus ones. But this trade seems to make sense. LA needs a puck moving defensman and the Cats need scoring. Both players are rumored to be bieng shopped around by their teams. I think it would take Bowmeester and some more talent to pry Kopitar from LA though. do you have a link? not that i dont believe you, but i read hockeybuzz too but havent seen that. although i dont read it daily because, as you said, it's usually bogus.
  5. Btw, AGonzalez11. It seems like you really love the team. So...I think you should join the FloridaPanthers.com message board. That is, if you are not already there. i'm there....balmo
  6. I've been hearing some rumors. Bowmeester for Kopitar. I think this would work out well for both teams. I'd hate for us to trade Bouwmeester. Kopitar better be a 1st line forward. i'd deal bouwmeester for kopitar in a split second. he's 20 years old and scored 32 goals and 77 pts. and he's not even close to finished developing. he's almost a lock to be a 100+ point guy. he's that skilled, imo. i doubt LA deals him. even for jay.

  8. AWFUL I just threw up all over my Panthers jersery. They probably should've just dumped Martin completely. Couldn't even get back a 1st round pick?? Deal saves them no money, and both guys are in the last year of their contracts. W. T. F. Boynton was on waivers earlier this season, he's no improvement over what we already have. If Ballard doesn't turn into something this is complete sewage. JayBo will probably get dealt for some offensive help now. Hopefully they're not finished. Since I don't live in SoFla now I don't have season tickets anymore but didn't they just raise the prices too? Ballard gives the Panthers the component that was needed on the defense and Boynton is the puck moving D that the team lacked, what is difficult to swallow is that Phoenix had 2 1st rounders and didn't give up any of them for Ollie. I know that Olie demanded a trade but he was worth more! They should have demanded the 1st rounder as well as a 3 as well along with the 2 players You got it all wrong. Ballard is a puck moving D, and good defensively. Boynton is anything, but a puck-moving D. He's an average D man, who's physical, defensively responsible, and has a nice shot, so he might see some PP time. Btw, in that 2nd round pick today...we acquired another defenseman. We acquired 1 forward, in the whole entire draft. Our 1st pick was a goaltender... Eric please check Boynton profile...I wasn't wrong http://www2.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/players/Nick_Boynton/ Boynton can move a little bit, and has some skill, but he plays a very simple game from the backend. He was drafted as a two-way guy and initially started out to develop that way in Boston, but a few years into his NHL experience he really started to struggle in his own end. Eventually it got so bad he was waived....but he's turned himself into a valuable commodity by abandoning the offensive side and just becoming a defensive, physical player. He's not a "puck-moving" defensman (i'm starting to hate that term!). he's a defensive defensman. Think Rhett Warrener with a little more feistyness and a slighter better skater.
  9. stuff coming out about olli the day after is not good. the vancouver and calgary GM's publicly said they had no interest, insinutating that character issues scared them off. brian biggane has a blog where a league executive is calling olli a "dog" - saying he's always the first one off the ice in practice and just is a terrible influence on his teamates. and steve gorten, a seperate source i'd imagine, says jokinen quit playing last year in order to get martin fired, which led to a split in the lockerroom. we were only what, 2-4 points out for a good stretch there? i'm pretty sure a couple of guys would rather have made the playoffs than having seen martin get fired. whether it's true or not, there's alot of smoke out there. and you know the old cliche..... regardless, he had to be dealt because it's obvious there is/was alot of tension in that room. if you read martin's comments about the trade he keeps saying "...and we changed the chemistry in the lockeroom" what do you guys think he's trying to tell us? he's being dubbed as a modern-day alexei yashin - and it's not long after this stuff came out about yashin that his career went down the toilet.... we need to replace his production, but i get the feeling we are a better team right now than we were yesterday. and let me add that i'm not exactly mr. positive. i was all over the organization when they accepted that pile of steaming horseshit for luongo. i just have a hunch. we'll see how it plays out.
  10. the deal is not as bad as you guys are making it out to be. i've seen ballard play plenty and he's good. he may not score 30 goals like olli will but you cant really compare the value of an effective defensman vs. a goal scorer. ballard is very good, much better than his underwhelming statistics lead one to believe. he will be a fan favorite - guaranteed - despite the fact he was dealt for jokinen. he's not big but easily one of the best open-ice hitters in the league. his hip-checks are a thing of beauty. he's full of spunk and is as feisty as they come. he'll be loved here. he also has much more offense to give than you think. he was drafted and went through college as an offensive defensman. phoenix had a bunch of offensive-oriented defensmen (jovanovski, michalek, morris) and asked him to be a "shut-down defender". his skating and puck skills remind me alot of a brian campbell/dan boyle type of player. he may not reach that level, but he definitely will score more than he did last year if deboer gives him the green light to roam...and he will. i was very high on ballard before we got him, which is probably why i'm not as upset with the deal as most seem to be. boynton is nothing special but he too will be well liked. he's also very physical and is a great teammate. he was always the first guy defending his teamates. ALWAYS. considering the situation we were in with olli i'm not that upset over this deal. it was pretty obvious he had to be dealt and his value has taken a hit with the rumors and speculation around about his poor attitude. the key now is he has to be replaced. we dont neccessarily need to add a superstar, but we need to bring in a proven scorer. a guy that has proven he can score 25+ goals and 60+ points. if we can do that, then the deal wont be all that bad. if martin sticks with the forwards we have no...we'll be in trouble.
  11. don't know much about the guy aside from him being ridiculously successful in juniors. hopefully his success can carry over to the next level!
  12. not good news on the bouwmeester front: Looming restricted free agent Jay Bouwmeester is noncommittal about whether he wants to play here long-term, and Panthers general manager Jacques Martin said there's ''no progress'' in contract talks. ''He wants to win,'' Martin said. ``That's the issue. He wants to be in the playoffs. We all do.'' http://www.miamiherald.com/1262/story/562329.html No Bouwmeester = complete offseason failure, imo. We can't just let him go, like that. He's 23 years old, and is already among the top 5-10 as far as D men in the NHL, I'd say. i pretty much agree. but he's putting us (martin) in a tough spot. if he doesn't re-sign, he has to be traded. theres no way we can go into this season with the possibility of him walking for nothing. and if we're contending (which im guessing we plan to do...) we're not gonna deal him mid-season because the only deals available then are for prospects/picks. the only possible trade scenario that I see as an "even trade" would be trading Bouwmeester to Ottawa for Spezza. Ottawa wants to make changes, and Spezza is a playmaker. Unfortunately, he (Spezza) and Martin never communicated well, apparently, in Ottawa. They never had the greatest of relationships. if bouwmeester forces our hand, ottawa is probably one of the best trading partners for us. spezza is unlikely, but heatley could be possible.. they could also put together a pretty tempting package. meszaros or volchenkov, vermette and a first? i'd hate to lose jay-bo but that's tempting. I came up with this today... 3 team trade... :mischief To FLA: Brent Burns (from MIN) + Jason Spezza (from OTT) To MIN: Olli Jokinen (from FLA) + Andrej Meszaros (from OTT) To OTT: Jay Bouwmeester (from FLA) + Mikko Koivu (from MIN) :mis2 i doubt minnesota would go for it...they add too much salary and dont really improve all that much, while getting older. why not just deal with ottawa if you're up for that drastic of a change? olli/jay-bo for one of heatley/spezza, one of volchenkov/meszaros, vermetter and a pick?

Is it just me or does Martin have a bad relationship with everyone? he's stubborn, set in his own ways so anyone that doesnt comply to them he gives the cold shoulder to. he's a great X's and O's coach but he doesn't have the versatile personality needed to be an elite coach.

  15. For someone that was "done" you sure like to stick around... I mean, if you're so intelligent, I think you would have picked up on the fact that we just couldn't care less about what you have to say anymore, and that we don't really want you here anymore... i'm really not sure i could care any less if you want me here or not. nope i couldn't. but you know what? you're actually right about something. i could be doing alot more with my time than bickering with a bunch of high school morons. let me tell you a short story before i go. i hear you kids like that stuff. i showed this thread to a friend of mine a few minutes ago. a nice source for amusement for him i'd say. after he read it i asked him how quickly he thinks i'll get banned and he repied: "you should be banned from life for arguing with idiots over the internet." naturally, i found that pretty funny. but i'm guessing you won't considering you're one of the idiots....oh well. anyway, im out. enjoy your "last laugh". :cool
