Closing the deal: Though Joe Borowski has the most experience and is 5-for-6 in save chances, Girardi said that the team will give some other young relievers a shot at closing.

Borowski was unable to close out the Rays in a loss on Friday, and rookie Logan Kensing was given a shot to protect the lead in the ninth inning on Saturday. Kensing surrendered a walk-off two-run homer to Russell Branyan.

Girardi said that Borowski will still get save chances, but so will the youngsters.

"Obviously, you'd like to go with one closer," said Girardi. "Joe's saved five of six, and I'm not going to take that away from him."

Girardi added that the team is looking for potential closer candidates. "The job here is to win games, but part of it is to teach, and to expand guys' roles and see how much they can mature in one year," he said. "They're going to have some chances. Joe's going to get a lot of chances, too, but they're going to have some chances. I'd love to say I'd go with one closer, but our bullpen doesn't present us with that, just because of the age factor, and the experience factor."
