Signed as a free agent in January, Alfonseca was 0-0 with a 5.63 ERA in 19 appearances with Texas. Alfonseca, 34, led the National League with 45 saves as a member of the Florida Marlins in 2000, despite an ERA of 4.24 in 68 appearances. He was traded to Chicago along with Matt Clement in January 2002 in the deal that brought Dontrelle Willis to Florida. Alfonseca returned to the Marlins last season and went 1-1 with a 4.94 ERA in 33 appearances. June 20, 200620 yr HGH gave him the extra fingers but didnt help his pitching career. :lol Someone's gotta pick him up. Middle relief is at such a premium these days.
