Even though it leans a bit to the left (it is NPR, after all), it's a very entertaining, often funny, radio program. I tune in every week; when I can't, I download the podcast.

 

Any fans out there?

The show is a hundred times better now that they're taping in front of a live audience. It adds a whole new dimension.

Yeah, I agree. Click and Clack followed by Wait Wait Don't Tell Me was the only reason I didn't mind my dad dragging me to Home Depot or wherever he needed to go Sunday mornings back in the day.

 

There aren't any podcasts for Click and Clack by any chance, are there?

It's a quiz show on the news of the week, with some comedy mixed in. It's pretty funny to boot.

And the comedy is mostly improvised. Think "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" meets "The Daily Show" -- but on the radio.

 

 

Speaking of "Car Talk" -- did anyone else catch their cameo in the movie "Cars"? Good stuff.

If you haven't seen "Cars" yet (you should), you may want to skip this...

 

 

 

After the race at the beginning, the protagonist (voice of Owen Wilson) is doing a promo for his sponsor. The 'emcees' are a 60's style Dodge passenger van and a sedan. Though they sounded familiar at first I couldn't make out who they were. Then one of them started: "And, remember, don't drive like my brother..." -- at which point, I burst out laughing (all by myself -- no one else in the theater "knew", apparently).

 

It was vintage Pixar; one of many hidden pop references. Overall, a great flick.

 

 

I wonder if there's anywhere to get the Car Talk shows for free.....they really are a trip and people who know nothing about cars (aka, me) can learn a lot while enjoying themselves.

 

And you know Beetle, I might see Cars soon just because the 'Tap It' Brothers are amazing.
