NHL minimum payrolls increase by $6.5 million

Featured Replies

This is awesome, the NHL minimum team payrolls have increased from $21.5 million to $28 million, this means essentially every team that was hovering right around the previous minimum is now FORCED to spend more than enough to sign a couple big name free agents.

Also, the salary cap has increased by $5 million to $44 million.

The minimum and maximum payrolls are entirely dependant on revenue generated during the previous season, so the NHL and it's teams all made a lot of money and as a result teams are now forced to put that money directly back into their teams.

I never thought i'd say this, but MLB needs to take a hint from the NHL.

Hopefully we get two big names

All we really need is Jovocop as far as big names. And then we just need, as I have said many times, a Mike Sillinger type special teams specialist which we sorely lacked last year. And then leave a lot of money to give multiyear deals to Bouw, Van Ryn, Horton, and Weiss. I read that we are going to give them multiyear deals or at least try.
