August 6, 200620 yr Final 15 laps to go and Kyle Busch is your race leader with Dale Jr right behind him!! GO JR!! Jimmie Johnson has taken the lead with 8 left to run... And Jimmie Johnson is your winner! Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer and Mark Martin round out the Top 5.
August 6, 200620 yr There was no way Junior was winning that with those tires. I'm surprised he finished where he did. Tony Stewart caused that second huge wreck on the last lap. Can't really say I'm surprised.
August 6, 200620 yr Kahne took a hell of a lick - glad he's ok. First time in awhile I've had the chance to catch the end of a race.

Can't really say I'm surprised. Yeah I know. His car sucked the entire day and if it wasn't for that ballsy move by Eury Jr, I don't think Dale would be in the Top 10 in points right now.
August 7, 200620 yr Jimmie is going to take the cup this year. :pimp If it can't be Mark Martin, I'll be satisfied with Jimmie taking the Cup. No doubt about it, he earned that win today.
August 7, 200620 yr I used to like Jimmie and then he started racing more. Every time he is involved in any kind of incident or wreck it's everyone's fault but his own. He needs to grow up, IMO.
August 7, 200619 yr All drivers complain a lot, but the biggest got to be Jimmie and Waltrip. They mentioned on the air yesterday how Jimmie was trying to show more personality over the air. That he comes across as 'too corporate'. Saw a little change in victory lane. He was genuinely excited. (I mean he did just win at Indy, but he usually doesn't have that kind of excitement in his voice.) I just think he tightens up a bit when on the air and that comes across poorly to the fans. This Carl Edwards/Tony Stewart rivalry could turn into something big I think. They do not like each other at all. I don't know how Tony can even say anything when he blatantly wrecked two people and ended their day on front stretch during the first 200 miles of the race. Tony is trying to be Dale Earnhardt and it really just isn't working right now. That Kasey Kahne hit was one the hardest hits I've seen in a good while. Tony Eury Jr probably just saved Dale Jr's chances at making the chase with that call. Like Jr said though you cannot expect to win a championship when you come to race tracks with a 30th place car. I'll be at 3 of the next 5 races...Going to be fun to watch to see who actually makes it into the chase

I'll be at 3 of the next 5 races...Going to be fun to watch to see who actually makes it into the chase I never used to think Waltrip was too much of a whiner but he has turned into one. But I guess when your equipment sucks and you fail to make races on a regular basis, you have something to bitch about. But not on camera. Johnson has toned it down a little in the sense of whining. Still, the king of them all is Jeff Gordon. Stewart has got to be my least favorite driver now. After the Pocono wreck, his exact words were "I don't know what Carl's problem is. We never hit him." How moronic and sarcastic is that? Edwards got it right. He's a moron, he's a jerk. If you can manage to piss off someone like Carl Edwards, that's when you know you're a true a**hole. It seems Stewart really likes pissing off Roush cars. And seeing as how Roush is my favorite team, I don't like it. At all. If he's trying to impersonate Earnhardt, he's doing it the wrong way. And it's not just me who is noticing it. The Kahne hit was hard. Very hard. But there have been harder hits this season. See Jeff Gordon at Pocono. Or Jeff Fuller at Kentucky. Eury Jr. has always been an awesome chief. Great call by those guys to stay out during that last caution. And you are right -- he probably saved Junior's chase chances there. But one more bad run and Junior is done. And he hasn't been great at the Glen lately. Hope you have fun at the next 3 races you go to. I went to Fontana this year and had a blast. I hope to make it to Homestead this year but if not, I'll be at Daytona next year for sure. It's always good to see a real NASCAR fan who knows what they're talking about. Rare nowadays.
August 7, 200619 yr Isn't that always the case with each driver though? A lot of the young ones but Jimmie is one of the worst. I can't stand Chad Knaus either. I like the way guys like Mark Martin and Bill Elliott handle problems on the track and I wish some of the spoiled kids out there would take a page from their book.

August 7, 200619 yr I know it's never going to happen and that is why my interest in NASCAR, which for a time was great, is dwindling. Between the sanctioning body micromanaging the drivers, the networks airing commercials during over 50% of the race, and the punks like Kurt Busch, Tony Stewart, and Jimmie Johnson becoming the face of the sport... the quality of NASCAR dwindles by the week.

Kurt Busch was never and will never be a punk. I think you're thinking of Kyle Busch. And I agree, the commercials are ridiculous. Watch the truck series. Much more respectful racing. And way less commercials.

August 8, 200619 yr You've got to be kidding about Kurt Busch  He is not anywhere near and never will be a racer.
