Ramp Apparently you have not check Gaby`s stats this year 71 game between low A & high A playing 1B,3B & Catcher only 6 errors that to me does not seem to be worst fielder in history like you always claim more like gold glove

he has an awful glove, isnt very quick, and his agility isnt wonderful either

I guess that does not merit a responds. When you say stats dont mean much when it comes to defence .I fallow Gaby from he was drafted & everything you said is incorrect I think you should go and see him play so he can change your mind.Also I guess the Marlins fill the same way when they have him playing 1B 3B & Catcher you dont do that with a player thats Awful Glove,not Quick,no agility

I've seen him play two times in person, and about 5 times on tv(back when he was at UM). Just wondering, where did you find his defensive stats? IIRC, he had 4 errors in April alone.

 

And actually, he is playing mostly 1b because he has no quickness or agility. If he had any legit defensive talent, he would be playing the outfield. Are you suggesting he is a good defensive player?

 

I love his bat, but he has no athleticism at all.

you can check minor league stats . and your right 4 errors in april but no more after that in Greensboro & 2 in Jupiter were he only played 3 base for 17 games. Dont go back to UM he was a SS in High School a very good one, won the state champship & was drafted did not sign. Change to 3B at UM were it`s not easy to play 3B check records of prior and did not finish making the adjustment as you are a baseball guy you know that`s not easy

See, Ramp, you got it all wrong. When he said "gold glove", he meant that he plays with a glove literally made out of gold. I challenge you to only make six errors with a hard, unforgiving, metal glove.

Also you make a point earlier that they wouldn't have someone playing 1b/3b/ and catcher if he wasn't a good defensive player.....

 

Actually that's EXACTLY what they'd do. If they can't find a position that he can play at the major league level, they would keep bouncing him around.

 

If he was a good catcher,,,,he'd never leave that position.

 

If he was a good third baseman,,,, they'd keep him there till it was obvious he was ready for the bigs.

 

Then he'd hit the obvious roadblock of Miguel, and they'd either move him or convert him to the OF.
