A friend was in front of me coming out of shul one day , and the Rabbi

was standing at the door as he always is to shake hands. He grabbed my

friend by the hand and pulled him aside.

The Rabbi said to him, "You need to join the Army of God! "

My friend replied, "I'm already in the Army of God, Rabbi."

The Rabbi questioned, "How come I don't see you except at Yom Kippur and

Yizkor?"

He whispered back, "I'm in the secret service."

Is that like Easter and Christmas?

What in the world is Yizkor?

:lol At least you got that far. I'm still trying to figure out what the hell a shul is. I think it's a clothing item... :mischief2

I just looked it up on Jew FAQ.

http://www.jewfaq.org/shul.htm

"Shul" is yiddish for school and refers to what most people call a "Synagogue." My momma says a "Synagogue" is where the Jewish Devils go to what the rest of us call "Church." :shifty

[great - now Itzhak is going to pee on my bagel tomorrow if he reads this... For the record, Itzhak - I'm JUST KIDDING! Sheesh!]

Yizkor is the prayers for the dead observed by all people (not just those in mourning) on Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement), the holiest day of the year for Jews around the world.

One favor, if you don't understand a joke because of the language, either PM the poster or ask someone. It is disrespectful to make jokes at the expense of another. I don't think you'd be too amused if I likened church to crotch. Hey- they both end in ch.

Whatever, dude... I'm the one with the pee-soaked bagel. Mazel tov, Itzhak, you got me. :|

In fairness to TGF, Shul is not a word that many people ["Jews" included] are that familiar with and he really didn't say anything disrespectful. If anything, he seemd [to me at least] to be lampooning his own lack of knowledge when it comes to this subject matter. That's what provoked me to point him to jewfaq.org!

In either case, I thought his post was funnier than the joke itself. :thumbup
