You know, I got to thinking.

Should we have explored the idea of Kevin Gregg starting?

AL-to-NL effect. It's already shown in the way he's pitched so far this year.

This year: 1.93 ERA 1.10 WHIP .197 BAA 9.79 K/9

Last year: 4.14 ERA 1.39 WHIP .280 BAA 8.18 K/9

Obviously he's pitched in less innings so far (about half), but that's a huge improvement. And it's not just him, it's been a common thing the past couple years.

He has starting experience (In 8 career starts, he has a big ERA [4.81] but his WHIP suggest it's blown up [1.23 WHIP]). If he could come close to sustain the numbers he's put up as a reliever so far this year, that'd be huge for us.

I think now it's too late to bother trying, expecially considering he's effectiveness as the closer. But ti's still something I would have liked to seen explore earlier in the year.
