and where'd you see this on Hermansen?

It means that, the team getting the player to be named later has a list of players that can be chosen from. The players on the list are agreed upon by both teams, when the trade originally goes down.

 

At a later date, the team getting the PTBNL chooses one of those players on the list.

 

A lot of times, it's "A PTBNL or cash", in which case, if at a later date the team getting the PTBNL decides that none of the players on the list are very worthwhile, they'll instead choose cash (The amount of cash would have already been agreed upon when the trade originally went down).

Just to add to that, a lot of times they will use a PTBNL because they want someone who was drafted by the other team and MLB has a rule that you can't trade a player you drafted until one year after he signed his contract.
