September 26, 200719 yr Kid was in the CGL at 16, hes 18 in A+ right now .307/.371/.392 in 411 ab's. Low slugging and only 5 homers, but power may develop after hes not a teenager anymore. Despite a small sample size he's already high on prospect charts. When you you guys think he'll be in pin stripes by.
September 26, 200719 yr I really doubt they'll rush him through Trenton in '08. I don't think you'll see him in pinstripes before 2009/2010. Also, don't quote me on this, but I believe he did have some kind of season ending injury/surgery the last few weeks of the FSL season.
September 26, 200719 yr The most incredible part of his stats is that he's been playing hurt for the better part of two years now. His season was ended early by surgery to remove the hamate bone in his hand. It had been a cause of concern for at least the past 2 years, and the Yankees finally decided to have it removed. From what I understand, the injury he sustained to his wrist was caused by the bone, and the injury would become chronic if the bone was not removed. A complete loss of power is expected along with this sort of injury and looking at his slugging percentage, that's exactly what he had happen. He'll start next year in AA, and should he find his power back fairly quickly could see AAA, too. If all goes according to plan, he should be in New York no later than 2010, with 2009 not being impossible if the Yankees face injuries in their outfield.
