NEW Deadline Trade Proposals

Featured Replies

The MLB Trade Non-Waiver Trade Deadline is now only three days away. So, time to offer up a new trade proposal involving the Florida Marlins.

Trade Proposal #1

Florida Marlins Get:

C Bengie Molina

RP Jack Taschner

cash

San Francisco Giants Get:

1B Mike Jacobs

RP Taylor Tankersley

Reasoning: With the latest setback for Matt Treanor, the Marlins need a reliable catcher more than ever now. That's where Bengie Molina comes into play. Throughout his career, Bengie has been an incredibly consistent hitting and fielding backstop and provided a great veteran presence everywhere he has been. That's what the Marlins are looking for. Besides a reliable veteran catcher, the Marlins are looking to add left-handed relievers to the bullpen. This season, Jack Taschner has been a nice surprise for the Giants and has been pretty consistent with a respectable 3.01 ERA to go with 27K and 16BB. He would come cheap to the Marlins as he still has two seasons left until reaching arbitration. For the Giants, they need to find a lefty-power hitter to replace Barry Bonds in the batting order. While Jacobs doesn't have as much power as Bonds, Jacobs has hit more homers than any Giant batter this season. The Giants also find a much-needed starting first basemen in Jacobs, where he can platoon with Rich Aurilia. To replace Molina, they have a good catcher who has major league experience and started for a time in Eliezer Alfonzo. The Giants would also acquire a talented left hander to add to the bullpen in Tankersley, who would fit nicely into the Giants bullpen, possibly as a setup man down the road once he gets his control down. After this trade, the Marlins shift Jorge Cantu to first (where he looked quite comfortable during Interleague play) and call up 3B Dallas McPherson to man the hot corner. This move would make the Marlins lineup one to be feared by the rest of the league.

I like it, but wasn't Tank a recent first round pick? We can't give up on him this soon.

I dont understand why we would trade away Tank if for one he was a first round pick that imo has great potential, and second relief pitching is our weak spot, so why even think of trading away any of our relievers. Especially Tank.

catcher is a bigger weakness and they are looking to trade him for another reliever as well

Imo the bullpen is the one that needs the most work. I like John Baker and believe he can ony get better. When it comes down to the postseason you want experienced guys coming out of the pen that can give you a better chance to hold the lead. We already have a well equipped offense, the bullpen is a priority.

If this deal was on the table it would have been done already....

Jacobs and Tank for Molina and LHP....Get it done

my trades:

stanton for molina

raynor or graham taylor for rhodes

torrealba for gall

I highly doubt any of your proposed trades would work. Who would be dumb enough to give Yorvit for Gall???

you also want guys that are experienced behind the plate and besides that one little stretch our pen has been great. i dont want to say we desperately need more offensee but if we could replace molina for baker that would be huge and put us over the top
