If we don't get a new stadium...

What are you talking about? WTEV has aired every game, there have been no blackouts and they haven't needed to buy tix.

but they still bring in a nice amount of people, I don't like the NFL blackout rules because it forces smaller market teams like JAX to sell almost 50,000 non luxury tickets 72 hours before kickoff and that is unreasonable with a struggling team.

see, that's my only point. it's a small market and that's why it wouldn't be able to financially support a competitive MLB team. i'm not knocking JAX, i've been there several times and it's a nice place.

yes, but JAX like Orlando or Tampa Bay has a central area where everyone can gather and agree on that there should be a stadium. If Dade or Broward can't build it, I see Orange County/Orlando or Jacksonville going for the team, why let them leave?

Orlando is big enough to support the team itself, it is the number 20 tv market with Tampa being number 13 i believe and miami-ft. lauderdale being number 17. it would be bigger than Milwaukee which is closer to Chicago and it's two teams than Orlando is to Tampa.

I think you all are forgetting the deal that Loria worked out with MLB to get out of Montreal.

I remember there was wide speculation at the time of a buyout cluase for Loria should he not get a Stadium and have to fold.

If no new stadium look for a firesale then a couple of lousy years to seal the contraction.

Who's gonna take a 3-5 hour drive from South Florida to Tampa Bay to watch the D-Rays? :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Would you do it if we had a Marlins vs. D-Rays World Series? :shifty I would be at all 7

Orlando and Tampa are 80 miles apart.

Orlando and Tampa are 80 miles apart. yup... in every major professional sport, EITHER orlando or tampa has a team, but NOT BOTH. there's a reason for that
