I hate to say and this is not a swipe at anyone on this forum because we are what is best about the marlins fan base but it is clear that politicians , the people who attempt to shape public opinion , and lets be honest a majority of the residents who live in Miami Dade do not want the Marlins to have their own stadium and really do not care if the team moves . In the first article link, Miami Dade County Commissioner Jimenez remedy is for the Marlins to try to stay in Dolphin Stadium for at least another 5 years and than IF things are better he wants to change the location and the Marlins to pay more . If it is tabled this friday it will not get done simple as that .

If it is tabled this friday it will not get done simple as that . Well the present deal is awful, and the owner needs to pay at least half. Times have changed and the Marlins and Samson made the mistake of walking away from the City of Miami in 2005. Had that deal not been rejected by the Marlins a stadium would already have been built. The more I hear of the deal, as a Miami-Dade resident, I too think the deal needs more Marlins money and less of that from the local taxpayers. Its obvious at this point the Tourist Tax money will not be collected and who is going to pay the difference ? The Marlins have not agreed to help out on that, so you know it will fall on the shoulders of the Miami-Dade taxpayer. I do not want my tax dollars to pay for a stadium that I can't afford to go to on a regular basis, while policeman, firemen and other county services that I do need are slashed.
