Best College Game you have seen

Featured Replies

Best game you have seen on TV and in person. I shall start it off

In person: I live in Hawaii so give me a break I haven't seen too many good games in person. But here it goes the College mens basketball game between Butler vs UH (UH comeback victory) from last year. As you can see I don't go out to too many events here on the Islands. I would have picked the Hawaii game where they beat Kansas a while back during the A.C. Carter days but I wasn't there.

On TV: Tough one but I am bias due to being a Husker fan so I will give the Husker-Missouri (The Kick) game a slight edge over Nebraska's spanking of Florida in the National Championship game. My Non Bias pick would have been the the College Basketball game between Duke-Maryland where Duke came back from like 9 or 10 down with 50 or so seconds to go in the game.

I would love to hear some others. I am sure you guys can top my experiences by far.

best college football game I've seen in person....let's see.

Furman at Appalachian State last year, where Furman lost with 6 seconds left after taking the lead by 1 on a touchdown, Coach Lamb decides to go for 2, the pass is intercepted and returned for 2 points for App. State, causing us to lose by 1. Exciting game, sad ending. I'd have a huge Southern Conference Championship ring on right now if it weren't for that play.

Um, another good game was the Georgia-Florida game in 2002, where the Gators won by a TD, but Georgia could have tied it up, but Terrance Edwards (the alltime leading receiver for the Bulldogs) dropped a wide open deep post.

Another game was when the Gators beat Tennessee in Gainesville I believe in 99...they had a key 4th down stop by stopping Jamal Lewis on the run.

The best game I've been to though is by far the 97 Florida-Florida State game played in Gainesville. With about 2:30 to go in the game, the Noles were up by 1, and Janikowski hits a chipshot field goal to bring the Nolies up by 4. Janikowski then does the Gator chomp right into the endzone where I'm sitting, rubbing it in.

First play from scrimmage for the Gators, Jacquez Green burns Samari Rolle on a hitch and go for about a 60 yard pass. Then Fred Taylor pulls off a 20 yard run to bring the ball to the 1, where he then carries it in for the go ahead touchdown. One XP later, Gators are up 32-29 with about 1 minute to go. A few plays later, Thad Busby's pass is picked off, and the game is over. The whole stadium stayed about an hour after the game just cheering. The Noles, of course were undefeated coming into the game (the Canes had not recovered from sanctions yet, and the ACC blows), and were ranked #1. The Gators were playing for pride, as they had lost to LSU and Georgia that year, and were headed to the Citrus Bowl (where they would beat Curtis Enis and the Nittany Lions). The game was so intense. Many of you may remember this game, because that is when the Offensive Genius decided to rotate QBs (Doug Johnson and Noah Brindise).

Best game i've ever been to was the Northern Illinois home opener this year against Maryland. I was able to sit in the student section with some of my friends that go to NIU, which was absoloutely insane that night. The crowd in general was incredibly loud all night, I was only able to hear the voice of the pa system guy a few times the whole game. And the game was incredible, NIU gave up a TD drive early to fall behind 7-0 early on, but the defense stood strong after that, as they only gave up 2 field goals the rest of the game. It was a defensive struggle, and Maryland had 2 second half field goals to go from 10-7 down to 13-10 up in the 4th quarter. Then Northern Illinois went on a huge drive which gobbled up several minutes and kicked a short field goal with about 1:30 left to tie it at 13. Maryland went 3 and out, and NIU drove down the field and had a chance to win the game with a field goal, but had it blocked, and the game went to OT. My friends and I were crushed...and NIU did nothing it's first 2 plays of OT as they had the ball first. But they P.J. Fleck caught a td pass right over the middle to give NIU a 20-13 lead. Then the craziest thing of the night happened, as a Maryland pass to the end zone went off the receivers leg, went in the air, and was intercepted along the sideline by NIU to end the game. We were going crazy, and i've never heard a stadium that loud as the whole crowd stayed and was just cheering the players for literally half an hour after the game. It was such a big deal to beat a national top 15 team, and I remember the next day (friday) falling asleep in class lol. Amazing night that i'll never forget.
