Posted April 29, 200916 yr did anyone see him steal 5 bases against the padres. this kid is fast and he's putting up nearly a .300 batting average. although i expect that to fall around the .270 range but he could still steal 60+ bases and hit double-digit homeruns. i'd take him over maybin at this point, not to mention he also strikes out 1/3 as many times as maybin.
April 29, 200916 yr Yeah I heard about his 5 bags. He supposed to be a stud. I think he played for team USA in the olympics last year.
April 30, 200916 yr I don't know much about his defense, but he's a pretty legit prospect. Doubt his ceiling is as high as Maybin's.

Doubt his ceiling is as high as Maybin's. Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus on Dexter Fowler: One of baseball's most outstanding athletes, in 2008, Fowler proved that he's more than just another player with a box of potential tools- he's an on-base machine with developing power and Gold Glove-level talent in center field.
April 30, 200916 yr Fowler's ceiling is high enough to talk about it. I knows he's a year behind Maybin but Fowler numbers in AA were filthy and eclipse anything Maybin did in a league that's fairly similar to Southern League. I would be surprised if Maybin puts together 65/89 BB/SO (Fowler) anytime soon and I'm having doubts about Maybin's ceiling. His strikeouts and are obviously discouraging and he hits the ball on the ground a whole lot, you have to wonder if that will effect his power numbers. At this point I may lean toward Fowler on this one.
